On September 3, 1945, after the victory of the Anti Japanese War, it was under the jurisdiction of Heilongjiang Province. In June 1946, the county government moved to Qike town.
In September 1946, it was transferred to Heihe district. In May 1947, Wuyun county was abolished and merged into Xunke county to establish Wuyun district.
In December 1965, most of Furao commune (formerly Wuyun District) was assigned to Jiayin county.
In December 2016, it was listed as the third batch of national new urbanization comprehensive pilot areas.
