Luchun County is under the jurisdiction of Honghe Prefecture. Originally known as "six villages", Zhou Enlai named it Lvchun in person when he founded the county in 1958, according to the characteristics of "green mountains and green waters, four seasons like spring".
Luchun County is located in the south of Yunnan Province, in the southwest of Honghe Prefecture, bordering Yuanyang and Jinping counties in the East, Honghe County in the north, Mojiang County in the northwest, Jiangcheng County across Lixianjiang in the southwest, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the southeast. It is 312 kilometers away from Hekou border port and 132 kilometers away from Jinshuihe port. Provincial highway S214 passes through the county.

Luchun County is located in the south of Yunnan Province, which spans 101 ° 48 ′ - 102 ° 39 ′ E and 22 ° 33 ′ - 23 ° 08 ′ n. It borders Yuanyang County, Jinping County and Honghe County in the East and North, Mojiang County of Pu'er City in the northwest, Jiangcheng County across Lixianjiang River in the southwest, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the southeast. The border line is 153 km long. The county has a maximum horizontal distance of 37.5 km from east to west and a maximum vertical distance of 60 km from north to south, covering a total area of 3096 square kilometers, 462 km from Kunming, the provincial capital, and 270 km from Mengzi.

Luchun County is located in the western end of the South Branch of Ailao Mountain, which is the landform of Zhongshan gorge. The main features of the county are deep rivers, crisscross gullies, overlapping peaks and fragmented landscapes. The highest point is the main peak of Huanglian mountain in the middle of the county, with an altitude of 2637 meters. The lowest point is the intersection of Xiaoheijiang River and Lixianjiang River, with an altitude of 320 meters. There is no flat dam in the area, and the area of paleoplanation surface, terrace and alluvial fan widely developed on the two slopes of the river is very small. Most of them are high and steep mountains, with an altitude of about 1200-1500 meters.
