Port area port area is located in the central area of Fangchenggang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is the seat of Fangchenggang Municipal Party committee and municipal people's government. It is also the political, economic, financial and cultural center of Fangchenggang. The whole area is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with a total coastline of 317 km. It is adjacent to Beibu Gulf in the south, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in the East and Vietnam across the sea in the West. It is the most important transit base for mainland China to enter and leave ASEAN countries It is the most convenient access to the sea in DIHE and daxinxi.
The port area governs Qisha, Guangpo, two towns and four sub district offices of Baishawan, yuzhouping, shatanjiang and Wangfu.
In October 2019, it was selected as one of the top 100 science and technology innovation zones in China in 2019. China's top 100 summer leisure counties and cities in 2020.
Historical evolution
Fangchenggang port district has a long history in China. Before Qin Dynasty, it was the southern border of Jingzhou in Baiyue (Guangdong). From the Han Dynasty to the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was Hepu County.
In the Southern Dynasties, song and Qi were Shoujun and Shouxian of Song Dynasty, belonging to Jiaozhou. Liang and Chen belong to Anjing County, Anjing county. In the 10th year of kaihuang reign of Sui Dynasty (590 AD), bananjing county was Anjing county. Kaihuang eighteen years (AD 598), changed from Anzhou to Qinzhou.
In the third year of Daye (607 AD), Qinzhou was changed into ningyue county. In the fourth year of Wude of Tang Dynasty (621 AD), ningyue county was changed into the general manager's office of Qinzhou. Tang Wude seven years (AD 624), changed to dudufu. In the first year of Zhenguan (627 AD), the governor's office was abolished. In the first year of Tianbao (742 AD), Qinzhou was changed into ningyue county. In the second year of Zhide (757 AD), Anjing county was changed into Baojing County. In the first year of Qianyuan (758 AD), ningyue county was changed to Qinzhou.
In the Song Dynasty, it was Anyuan County, under the jurisdiction of Guangnan West Road (Baojing County was changed to Anyuan County in 1006 A.D., the third year of Jingde in the Song Dynasty). In the Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Qinzhou road. In the second year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1369 A.D.), it was changed to Qinzhou road.
Hongwu eight years (AD 1375), down to the state, Hongwu nine years (AD 1376), down to the county, is Lianzhou, Leizhou Prefecture; Hongwu fourteen years (AD 1381), back to the state.
In 1888, Qinzhou was promoted to Zhili Prefecture, and Fangcheng county was set up as Fangcheng county and Ruxi county.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Fangcheng County belonged to Guangdong Province before February 1951. From March 1951 to June 1955, it belonged to Guangxi. From July 1955 to July 1965, it returned to Guangdong. In August 1965, it belonged to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Fangcheng county was liberated in December 1949. In May 1993, the State Council approved the abolition of Fangcheng Ethnic Autonomous County and the establishment of a prefecture level Fangchenggang City, which has jurisdiction over the port district, Fangcheng district and Shangsi county and is subordinate to Fangchenggang City.
In 1996, the port area was 338 square kilometers with a population of about 95000. It has jurisdiction over two streets and three towns: Baishawan street, yuzhouping street, Guangpo Town, Gongche town and Qisha town. The district government is located in yuzhouping street.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of the port area is 106403. Among them, there are 16966 people in yuzhouping street, 32425 people in Baishawan street, 26991 people in Qisha Town, 17171 people in Guangpo town and 12850 people in Gongche town.

The port area is located at the southwest end of the mainland China coastline, and is in the Chinese mainland - ASEAN Free Trade Area, the Pan Pearl River Delta economic circle and the the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Beibu Gulf Economic Zone. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides, the Beibu Gulf in the south, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in the East, and Vietnam across the sea in the West. The total area of the region is 378 square kilometers, and the port area is surrounded by the sea on three sides. It is 40 km west to Vietnam, 150 km north to Nanning and 170 km east to Beihai. It is composed of Qisha Peninsula and Yuwan peninsula.

The port area is located in the Coastal Hilly Area with rolling hills. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The soil is mostly red soil, and the beach and bay are Quaternary overburden. The surface layer of the approach channel is yellow, gray medium sand or fine sand, coarse sand, mainly medium sand, with a thickness of 1-3m. The lower layer is dark gray fine sandy mud.

Fangcheng river is the largest river in the port area. It originates from Shiwandashan in the north of Fangchenggang City and flows into Fangchenggang Bay. It has a total length of 98 km, a drainage area of 843 square kilometers and an average annual water yield of 18. 500 million cubic meters, with an average annual flow of 58. 7 m3 / s.
The average tide level is 2.27m, the average tidal range is 2.55m, and the maximum tidal range is 4.93m. The waters in the harbor Bay are calm with an average wave height of 0.56m. When the wind force is 7-8, the wave height in the bay is 1-1.2 meters, and the maximum wave height in typhoon is 6 meters.

Relying on the Nankun railway, Nanfang railway, Guihai Expressway and Qinfang expressway, the railway connects with the national railway trunk lines through the southern defense line and through the Nankun, Xianggui, Qiangui and Jingguang railways.
The highways in the port area connect Dongxing and Qinzhou, and connect Nanning Expressway to connect the national highway network; the civil aviation in the port area can transit to major cities in the country through Nanning.
Fangcheng port is one of the few ports in South China that can handle over 150000 DWT super large ships.
The available coastline of Fangchenggang is 66 kilometers long. Fangchenggang now has 41 berths, including 37 productive berths, 26 deep-water berths above 10000 tons, and 115 deep-water berths from 10000 tons to 300000 tons.
Qisha port is the main distribution center of fishing goods in Beibu Gulf and the second largest fishing port in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. By the end of 2008, there were 17 berths of 300 to 500 tons, with a maximum berthing capacity of 1000 tons.
