Chunyang Hall
Chunyang hall, formerly known as new Emei temple and LV Xianci, was originally a Taoist temple dedicated to LV Dongbin, one of the eight immortals. Later, it was changed into a Buddhist temple. LV Dongbin plays an important role in Chinese folk beliefs. Among the Chinese people, there are stories about Lu Dongbin drinking three times in Yueyang Tower, taking Li Yue as an iron crutch, and killing Huanglong with a flying sword. Luzu ancestral temples have been widely built in various parts of China. They were offered sacrifices at the age of 20 and have been burning incense ever since. It is said that Lu Zu's birthday is April 14 of the lunar calendar.
brief introduction
Originally named lvxianxing cave, it is located at the foot of Chicheng peak of Mount Emei in Sichuan Province. It was called "new Emei Temple" in Song Dynasty. In 1585, it was rebuilt and named "Gulu QIANXING Temple". In the sixth year of Chongzhen (1633), it was renovated and some buildings were added. It was changed into "Chunyang hall", which was originally a Taoist temple. The existing temples were rebuilt into Buddhist temples during the reign of Qianlong and Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty.
Palace landscape
The temple is small in scale, but its architectural layout and shape are full of charm. It is a compound courtyard with wood structure. It faces north from South and has a construction area of nearly 2000 square meters. The existing buildings include Mountain Gate, main hall, sutra collection building, pharmacist hall, Puxian hall, etc. The temple is arranged along the height difference platform of the terrain. The gate, main hall and Sutra building fall down three times from the stone steps respectively. Small stilts are arranged on both sides. The terrace of the building is similar to the tower on the top of the gate, which not only strengthens the spirit of the steps of the gate, but also highlights the entrance of the temple. Taking advantage of the floor height difference between the main hall and the Tibetan Scripture building, a steep stone ladder is set up to lead into the Tibetan Scripture building. The steps have a corridor with appropriate scale, so that up and down, left and right, constitute different indoor and outdoor space changes, so as to meet the use function, and give the special charm of the mountain temple scenery, reflecting the wisdom and superb architectural skills of the ancient Chinese working people. The pharmacist Buddha, sunlight Bodhisattva and moonlight Bodhisattva in the hall are all bronze ornamented with gold, which are cultural relics of the Qing Dynasty. There are still two stone tablets in the waste grass behind the hall. The words are clear and distinguishable, which reflects the history of Emei Mountain where Buddhism and Taoism coexisted, then Buddhism flourished and feathered men disappeared. Chunyang hall is more than 1000 meters in the sea. The ancient trees around the temple are towering, and the sun is covered with shade. It is quiet and pleasant. There is a "Puxian stone" not far from the hall. It is said that it is a resting place for Puxian's mountaineering poems. A few hundred meters away from Chunyang hall, there is the former site of huideng temple. You can lie down here and have a panoramic view of the peaks. You can see the golden top and the cliffs. It is very close to the sky.
