Jinzhai revolutionary martyrs cemetery is located in the hinterland of Dabie Mountain at the junction of Hubei, Henan and Anhui provinces. It includes six parts: revolutionary martyrs memorial tower, Jinzhai County Revolutionary Museum, Jinzhai County Red Army memorial hall, general Hong Xuezhi Memorial, Red Army martyrs cemetery and Red Army square. Now a large-scale revolutionary martyr cemetery with mountain characteristics has been formed, with the martyr memorial tower as the center, integrating tower, hall, monument, tomb and village.

In December 2016, Jinzhai revolutionary martyrs cemetery was selected into the list of national red tourist attractions.

Evolution of construction

Jinzhai revolutionary martyrs cemetery is located in the west side of Shihe mountain, Meishan Town, Jinzhai County, Anhui Province. Jinzhai County revolutionary museum is located in the county martyrs cemetery. Founded in April 1983, it covers an area of 8000 square meters and a building area of 2810 square meters. The main building is inlaid with the title of "Jinzhai County revolutionary museum" inscribed by Deng Xiaoping. On the left is the bronze medal of "National Youth patriotic education base" inscribed by General Secretary Jiang Zemin. In 2003, the exhibition was fully repaired and re arranged, including the preface hall, Jinzhai revolutionary history exhibition hall, Jinzhai general exhibition hall, Jinzhai today's Jinzhai exhibition hall, Jinzhai celebrities exhibition hall, Jinzhai martyrs exhibition hall and general celebrities exhibition hall. The museum has abundant historical materials and rich connotations, which can fully display the history of revolutionary struggle in Hubei Henan Anhui Soviet Area and the development of Jinzhai today

Jinzhai revolutionary martyrs memorial tower

Jinzhai revolutionary martyrs memorial tower is located in the center of the cemetery. It was approved by Anhui Provincial People's Committee in June 1960 and completed in October 1965. The tower is 24 meters high, majestic and magnificent. The front of the tower is engraved with four gold-plated characters of "start a prairie fire" written by Marshal Liu Bocheng. The front of the tower base is inlaid with white marble relief, and the back is engraved with inscriptions of the CPC Jinzhai County Party committee and the people's Government of Jinzhai County. Around the martyr tower and on both sides of the steps are green pines and cypresses, which are evergreen all the year round and solemn. The martyr tower square covers an area of 2500 square meters and can accommodate 5000 people. In 1993, another Red Army memorial hall was built to the north of the martyrs tower. General Hong Xuezhi inscribed the memorial hall.

Jinzhai Red Army memorial hall

The Red Army memorial hall in Jinzhai County, with a construction area of 1050 square meters, is a two-story reinforced concrete structure with octagonal shape, which is similar to the Red Army octagonal hat, implying that the spirit of the Red Army will shine forever. On the hillside behind the Red Army memorial hall, there are more than 100 tombs of the general and the Red Army, where the remains and ashes of Lin Weixian, Teng Haiqing, Zhan Huayu, Chen Xiang, Yu Ming and other late generals and the old Red Army are buried. The heroes and generals of the Red Army who fought for the revolution in those days have now returned to their hometown, where they devoted themselves to the revolution and fought bloody battles.

Jinzhai County Revolutionary Museum

Jinzhai County revolutionary museum was built in 1983. The front of the main building is inlaid with eight characters of Comrade Deng Xiaoping's autograph "Jinzhai County revolutionary museum". The exhibition in the museum is divided into seven parts: preface hall, revolutionary history exhibition, general exhibition, Hong Xuezhi picture exhibition, Jinzhai celebrity exhibition, martyrs exhibition and painting and calligraphy hall, with 1192 cultural relics. The Red Army memorial hall of Jinzhai County was built on the back of the martyrs tower in 1993, with a construction area of 444 square meters. The monument covers an area of 840 square meters, including monument, meritorious pillar, Great Wall wall, memorial square, greening, etc. The cemetery of the Red Army martyrs is built on the West hillside of the martyrs tower, with more than 100 tombs. The construction area of the Red Army square is 19000 square meters, including square, memorial archway, step path, greening, lighting, retaining wall and relief.

Cultural relic value

Jinzhai is the hometown of the Red Army and the cradle of generals. Jinzhai revolutionary martyrs cemetery is a large-scale cemetery integrating Museum, memorial hall and Red Army tomb. It is a national key martyrs building protection unit. Every year tens of thousands of visitors from all over the country come to pay homage to the revolutionary martyrs and receive revolutionary tradition education.
