Jiangzi County
Jiangzi county is subordinate to Xigaze city of Tibet Autonomous Region, located in the south of Tibet, the east of Xigaze city and the upper reaches of Nianchu river. Gyangze is one of the famous historical and cultural cities in China, and it is also a new tourist town.
In 2006, the total population of Jiangzi county was 67000. The residents in the county were mainly Tibetan, accounting for 98%. Other ethnic groups were Han and Hui. In 2008, Jiangzi county has jurisdiction over 1 town, 18 townships, 151 villages and 3 residents' committees. The county government is located in Jiangzi town. The total area is 3771 square kilometers. In 2013, the GDP of Jiangzi county was 1.316 billion yuan, an increase of 201% over 2004.
On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 e-commerce into rural comprehensive demonstration county" of the Ministry of Commerce.
On December 9, 2019, the people's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region approved the withdrawal of Gyangze county from poverty-stricken counties (districts).
Historical evolution
Gyangze, in Tibetan, means "the peak of victory; the top of Fawang mansion".
Because the Nianchu river flows through here, people in history called the Jiangzi area "Nian".
In the Qing Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of the former Tibetan gaxia local government.
In 1904, the British imperialists invaded Tibet. The people of Gyangze were not afraid of violence and defended the country with blood. They composed a heroic and solemn patriotic anthem. Since then, Gyangze has been known as "hero city" at home and abroad.
In 1951, the 154th regiment of the 52nd division of the 18th army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army entered Jiangzi.
In 1952, Gyangze branch of CPC Tibet Working Committee was formally established.
In 1964, Gyangze Prefecture was abolished, leading institutions and Shigatse were merged, and Gyangze County belonged to Shigatse Prefecture.
On June 26, 2014, Shigatse was set up as a city, and Gyangze county was under the jurisdiction of Shigatse City.

Jiangzi county is located in the south of Tibet, the east of Shigatse City and the upper reaches of the Nianchu River, between 89.6 E and 28.92 n. The total area is 3771 square kilometers.

Jiangzi county is high in the north and south, low in the middle and West, with an average altitude of about 4000 meters. Both sides of the Nianchu River are canyon areas, with the highest altitude of 7191 meters.

Jiangzi county belongs to the plateau temperate semi-arid monsoon climate zone. The dry and wet seasons in Jiangzi county are distinct, with abundant and concentrated rainfall in summer, warm and humid, dry and cold in winter, sufficient sunshine, strong solar radiation, large daily temperature difference and small annual temperature difference, and short frost free period. The annual sunshine hours are 3189.8 hours, the annual frost free period is about 110 days, and the annual precipitation is 291.1 mm. Natural disasters mainly include drought, mountain torrents, wind, frost, hail and so on.

There is the Nianchu River in Gyangze county. The Nianchu river is formed by the confluence of kangmaniru Zangbo River and Gyangze Longma River in Shigatse City. It flows through Kangma and other four counties (cities) and then flows into the Yarlung Zangbo River.

Lhasa Yadong highway, Rikaze Yadong highway and Rikaze Jiangzi highway run through the county and meet in Jiangzi town. The county is 260 kilometers away from Lhasa in the East, 223 kilometers away from Gongga Airport, the largest airport in Tibet, and 215 kilometers away from Yadong, a small border town in the south. Obviously, Gyangze is not only an important transportation hub, but also closely connected with Lhasa, Shigatse and Yadong. It is an important economic center with a large number of floating personnel and active economic and trade transactions. The vehicles from Gyangze to Shigatse start from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Gyangze is one of the famous historical and cultural cities in China, and it is also a new tourist town. Zongshan, located in the center of the county, is not only the historical witness of the people of Gyangze fighting against the British Invaders, but also the only well preserved architectural site of the old Tibetan Zong government. Located in the western suburb of the county seat, Baiju temple, founded in 1418, is the only temple where the three major sects of Tibetan Buddhism gather in one temple. "100000 pagoda" is the only Pagoda Temple in Tibetan Buddhism. The serf owner's manor of Pala, 2 km away from the county seat, is the only manor completely preserved among the eight noble manors in old Tibet. The famous naiqinkangsang snow mountain is the most accessible continental ice and snow activity center on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau.
