The two bomb city is located in Zitong County, Sichuan Province. In August 1965, during the third line construction period, the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics (No.9 Institute) moved to Zitong, where the design schemes of atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb were successively completed. The former site of No.9 Institute is known as the "two bomb city".

In January 2017, the national development and Reform Commission, the National Tourism Administration and other units announced the list of national Red Tourism classic scenic spots, and Liangtan city was selected into the list of Chinese Red Tourism classic scenic spots.

In 2014, the "two bomb city" scenic spot in Zitong, Mianyang, was recognized as the national defense science and technology industry and military industry culture and education base. Zitong County said that it plans to invest 300-500 million yuan in three to five years to build the "two bombs city" scenic spot into a national classic red tourism scenic spot and a national 4A scenic spot with an annual tourist volume of more than 300000 people.

It is rated as a national 4A scenic spot.

Overview of scenic spots

China's two bombs city is the former site of the former nine academies (China Academy of Engineering Physics). It was built in the late 1960s, covering an area of more than 3000 mu and a construction area of 200000 square meters. It is the headquarters of the second nuclear weapon research and development base in China after Qinghai Atomic City. In 1969, the Department moved from Qinghai to Mianyang. After 23 years, it moved from Zitong to Mianyang Science and Technology City in 1992.

"Two bombs city" scenic spot is located in the ninth Ring Road and the Three Kingdoms Cultural Tourism line, with red culture as the connotation, integrating nostalgic experience, leisure vacation, red tourism, outward bound training and conference training, rich in content and real experience. The planning area of the scenic spot is 17 square kilometers, including changqingshan forest park. So far, 167 1960s buildings, such as auditorium, office building, archives, model hall, information center, former residence of Deng Jiaxian, general building, air raid shelter, national soul stele forest and many other commemorative objects, have been preserved in the "two bombs city". In the third national cultural relics survey, they are listed among the top 100 newly discovered cultural relics in China.

In September 2015, the "two bombs Model Museum" of China's two bombs city opened in Zitong two bombs city scenic area. The two bombs Model Museum is located in No.2 Hall of "two bombs History Museum" in the two bombs city scenic spot of Zitong county. The models on display are donated by the Chinese Academy of Engineering Physics. The "two bombs" model is made according to the approximate 1:1 ratio, which visually and vividly shows the "two bombs" style to tourists.

On the morning of January 22, 2018, the awarding ceremony of "Mianyang confidential education base" was held in China's Liangtan city. An Ying, full-time deputy director of the Security Committee of Mianyang municipal Party committee and director of the Municipal State Security Bureau, attended the awarding ceremony and delivered a speech. The awarding ceremony was presided over by Comrade Hao Jianfeng, deputy secretary of Zitong county Party committee. Before the ceremony, a ceremony was held to present flowers to the bronze statue of Deng Jiaxian.

The story of the scenic spot

According to the principle of "large dispersion, small concentration, and close to the mountains and rivers, they set up their own tribal households in Changqing mountain of Zitong, while the rest of the research institutes are scattered in the wild mountains of Longmen Mountain and Jianmen mountain. At that time, famous scientists at home and abroad, such as Wang Ganchang, Zhu Guangya, Yu Min, Chen nengkuan, Zhou Guangzhao, Cheng Kaijia, Peng Huanwu, Guo yonghuai, Deng Jiaxian, shouldered the great trust of the party and the people, gathered here with the desire to win honor for the country, win morale for the nation, benefit the people, and realize the ideal of "boosting the prestige of our country and our army". At that time, when more than 10000 scientific researchers, engineers and workers first came to the wilderness, the first difficulty they encountered was housing. In order to overcome the difficulties, they carried forward the revolutionary spirit of hard struggle and built mud walls and thatched houses by themselves. The scientists led a group of college students who had just graduated from the University. Inspired by the idea of "staying on one's feet, tasting one's courage, and working selflessly to tackle key problems", they carried out base construction by picking bricks and tiles during the day, studying theory and major at night. In order to realize their ideals, scientists are willing to be unsung heroes all their lives. They hide in the mountains and forget to eat and sleep. They devote themselves to the research and development of atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb with "careful research, careful design, careful experiment, careful manufacture, striving to be the first, careful and safe".

In the absence of data and experimental conditions, they rely on their own hard work and repeated exploration to master cutting-edge technology. They don't have festivals or Sundays, and the lights in the lab are often from dusk to dawn. For a key technology, they calculate over and over again on a simple hand-held computer. It took only half a year to achieve a major theoretical breakthrough and complete the theoretical design of the atomic bomb. Less than a year later, he completed the design of "hydrogen bomb". The successful development of the "two bombs" has enabled the Chinese people to have their own "competing bombs". As a result, China's national strength and international status in the world have been improved, and the ancient Chinese nation has also stood firm among the nations in the world.

In 1983, general Zhang Aiping, Minister of national defense, came to changqingshan to inspect the nine academies. When he saw the scientists living in dashangou, he said, "you won't be lonely. Sima Xiangru was reading under the stone in front of you." President Deng Jiaxian replied, "yes, Zhang Yazi, the star of Wenqu in qiqushan temple, is still watching us make achievements." General Zhang Aiping immediately wrote such a song: "to Comrade Jiuyuan: 22 years of unforgettable feelings, the rough road is smooth.". He has made many miraculous achievements, which have shocked the world and made miracles. Zhang Aiping was at the foot of Changqing mountain on May 20, 1983. In the same month, Vice President Chen nengkuan accompanied General Zhang Aiping to visit the qiqushan temple. The general wrote a letter to Comrade Chen nengkuan when he visited qiqushan in Pingle of Qing Dynasty, which said: "meet after the disaster, come here to visit the ancient palace, and look carefully at the Jin Bai and song Ding. All the colleagues praise him. Qiqu Shituo lingers, tongshui Jiuwan is at the foot, full of beautiful harvest scenery, but Bashan is talking about grassland. On May 15, 1983, Zhang Aiping moved the Department of the ninth Academy of Sciences to Mianyang in 1990. In the former residence of Deng Jiaxian, the former leader of the "two bombs" at the former site of the ninth Academy of Sciences at the West foot of Changqing in Zitong, the "general building" where General Zhang Aiping lived and the "scientist building" where scientists lived are preserved in their original appearance.
