Civilization tower
Wenming tower, located in the northeast of Qianyuan Town, Deqing County, is located in the granary of Wenming tower of Deqing County grain storage Co., Ltd. on Beijiao Road, by yubuxi river. It was built in 1594, the 22nd year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty.
The body of the tower is made of brick, with a height of 18 meters, 7 floors and 8 sides. In 1982, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the county level. It was rebuilt in 2008.
Wenming tower, also known as Wenfeng tower, is located two kilometers northeast of Chengguan Town, Deqing County, Huzhou City. It is located on the Bank of yubuxi River (now in the granary of Wenming tower of Deqing County grain storage Co., Ltd.). Cultural relics protection units at the county level.
The tower was built in August (1594), the 22nd year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty. The original intention of building the tower was to block the obscenity and revitalize the cultural movement, so it was named civilization tower. Tower octagonal seven Pavilion style, thick brick solid, about 18 meters high. Each floor has an angular waist eaves. Except for the small niches on the lower two floors, there are pot door niches or brick carved Kuixing statues on each side. From bottom to top, each layer of the tower shrinks one by one. There are brick leaning columns at the corner of the tower. The waist eaves of each layer are decorated with sawn red bricks, and the second and third layers are decorated with small pot door niches and square brick Kuixing kicking bucket statues in the middle. The rest are inlaid with Kuixing stone statues in the middle. Kuixing statues are ferocious, with red hair ring eyes, two corners on the head, brush on the right and ink bucket on the left. Kuixing was in charge of the cultural movement to match the purpose of building the tower.
There was a water pavilion under the tower, but it has been abandoned. At the beginning of the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, the Tasha was destroyed by strong wind, and a cluster of trees grew on the top of the Tasha. In the "Cultural Revolution", some bricks and stones in the foundation of the tower were excavated. In 1979, the bottom layer was sealed with cement. The pagoda is well preserved with exquisite Kuixing brick carvings. It is one of the only two ancient pagodas in Deqing County. In 1982, it was listed as a county-level cultural relics protection unit. It was rebuilt in 2008.
According to the records of Deqing County annals of Kangxi, in 1594, Lian Jifang, magistrate of Wanli County, and Peng tongkui, Minister of education, took this as the pillar of heaven, and Fang Jianzhi took it as a fortress to suppress the obscenity of the people, and promoted the literary movement of the city.
According to the records of Jianzhi in volume 3 of new records of Deqing County of the Republic of China, the civilization tower is in the sun of xialan mountain. Each layer of tower brick has Kuixing statue. At the top of the tower, the light was blown away by the strong wind. The temple under the tower is now abandoned. The above continued Hou Zhi. The construction of the tower was initiated by the then magistrate Lian Jifang and Jiaoyu Peng tongkui. It was started in March and completed in August.
The bottom of the tower was sealed with cement in 1979. In 2008, due to the disrepair and serious damage of the tower, the lack of Wai corridor, brick falling from time to time, the serious damage of Tasha eaves and the dense trees on the top of the tower, Deqing County Museum entrusted Zhejiang Yunbi cultural relics and Ancient Architecture Engineering Co., Ltd. to restore and reinforce the tower, and restore the Tasha, eaves and the corridor of the first floor of the civilized tower.
