In August 1369, it was completed, forming a classical complex covering an area of more than 15000 square meters. In 1986, it was designated as a key cultural relics protection unit in Shanxi Province.
geographical position
Daizhou Confucian temple is located 500 meters away from Daixian bus station. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and was originally a Confucian school. There are three courtyards in the temple. The main buildings in the front yard are Lingxing gate, halberd gate, panchi, etc. The central courtyard is the main building of the Confucian temple. There is the Dacheng hall, which worships Confucius. It is resplendent and has a sparse layout. The houses on both sides of the Dacheng hall were originally places for students to study. The backyard is a place for offering sacrifices to the Confucian masters of the past dynasties.
Human history
Daizhou Confucian temple is a state-level Confucian institution, located in daizhou county. This Confucian temple was first built in the Tang Dynasty. It was destroyed by the war in the Yuan Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the late Yuan Dynasty and the early Ming Dynasty. It was continuously renovated in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was renovated again in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, which lasted for two years.
internal structure
The main building of Confucian temple faces south and is divided into front, middle and back courtyards.
There is a temple of worship in the backyard, which is a place for offering sacrifices to Confucian scholars and great Confucians. Every spring and autumn, when the students come to the Confucian temple to study, they have to pay a memorial ceremony here to show their respect for the sages.
This is the center of Confucianism. Due north is Dacheng hall, where Confucius, the great sage of Confucianism, is worshipped. Since the Tang Dynasty, Confucius has been honored as the most holy king of literature and propaganda in Dacheng. Therefore, all ancient state and county schools and even Guoxue built temples for him and held regular ceremonial ceremonies. This Dacheng hall, covered with glazed tiles, is resplendent and majestic, which is famous far and near. On both sides of Dacheng hall, there are 15 East and West verandahs, which are the places selected by the state for students to study. The terrace in front of Dacheng hall is a place for students to rest and discuss problems after class.
From the small doors on both sides of the middle yard, you come to the front yard. In the north of the front yard is the halberd gate, which is opposite to the Lingxing gate of the six column five storey Pavilion. The so-called halberd gate means that there are halberd like weapons in front of the gate to show that it is an official office. Because the ancient state school is located in the same time as the school palace, which is the official office in charge of education and examination, so a halberd was set up in front of its door to show honor. What is called Lingxing gate? Lingxing, originally called Lingxing, is Tiantian star. Liu Bang, the emperor of the Han Dynasty, ordered to sacrifice tiantianxing as the first important thing for the sake of good weather and happiness of the people. In the Song Dynasty, the Ru family matched Confucius with the heaven, so in the Confucian temples and Confucianism, they also worshipped Confucius as heaven, so they all built Lingxing gatehouses to worship Confucius. In later generations, people thought that the sacrifice of tiantianxing in Han Dynasty was for agricultural production, which had nothing to do with the sacrifice of tiantianxing in Confucius Temple. Seeing that the shape of the door was like a window lattice, they changed "Lingxing" to "Lingxing". With such a change, the people of future generations will not know why. Only understand these, the meaning of the building will be understood.
In the open space between halberd gate and Lingxing gate, there are pan pool and Xingju pool. There are two ancient locust trees in front of panchi, which were planted in the Tang Dynasty when the temple was built. The stem is thick and surrounded by two sides. One tree is hollow, and the hole can accommodate people. The so-called pan pool originally came from the pan water of the state of Lu in the spring and Autumn period. The state of Lu established a school on pan water, which is called pan palace. Because the state of Lu was the place where Confucianism rose, descendants dug a pool in the school as pan water. As for the star pool, on the one hand, it is used to observe the sky in the water, on the other hand, it also symbolizes the gathering of stars.
In front of the Lingxing gate of the Confucian temple, there are "Wanren square", and on both sides of "Wanren square", there are two symmetrical squares of "worshiping sages" and "worshiping sages".
In the East and west of the Confucian temple, there are Zhongyi temple, Wenchang Pavilion, Minglun hall and Jiexiao temple. Around Zhongyi temple is the office of Xuezheng and Xun in Qing Dynasty. Together with the Confucian temple, these buildings form a group of grand Confucian buildings. After visiting this Confucian complex, you can not only see the ancient architectural art, but also understand the ancient school system through it.
