Lengshui nunnery

Lengshui nunnery is located at the foot of maojiabaofeng mountain, Guangxi village, Yinjiang Town, Yinzhou District, Ningbo City. It was built in the early Ming Dynasty, and is the branch of the temple of Yide. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was called Baofeng temple. In the 26th year of the Republic of China, it was changed into Lengshui nunnery and began to hold female monks. It is a branch of Linji school.

The former structure of Lengshui nunnery is different from other nunneries. There is a wall in front of Tianwang hall, with two doors open. The east gate is "Zhu Tianjun Temple", which is dedicated to Emperor Chongzhen and Zhu Youjian in the late Ming Dynasty. The west gate is "lengshuian". They are all engraved at all times. Buddhist holy places with temples are extremely rare. The former nunnery was divided into three halls, the front, the middle and the back. To the period of Cultural Revolution, there is still a remnant hall, a remnant house and a hatchback room.

In the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, Lengshui nunnery was rebuilt, and again in the eighth year of Emperor Yongzheng. The remains of the temple house is a historic site left in the seventh year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty.

After 1992, the abbot LV shichengde mobilized the laity disciples and villagers to repair Lengshui nunnery again. After the repair, the old style of Lengshui nunnery was retained and the body of Avalokitesvara and Kalan Buddha was shaped. Among them, the reclining Buddha is more than six meters long, which is one of the largest Buddhist bodies in temples in eastern Zhejiang.

The four Ming Dynasties

Lengshui nunnery is connected with Baofeng mountain in the north, with towering ancient trees. The cold pool in front of nunnery has clear water, blue waves and cool four seasons. His highness daxiongbao has a cold water hole. In the middle of summer every year, before the entrance of the hole, the cold air pours on people, and the cold water keeps on all the year round. The cold water nunnery gets its name from this. In the late Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the monk in charge planted two Euonymus japonicus trees. Up to now, they are lush, with a crown of about four meters. They are the most valuable ancient trees in the province. In March of the thirtieth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the yongban stele beside lengshuikong is still intact. Now lengshuian is a town level cultural relic protection site of Yinjiang town.
