It is a large (2) reservoir in the upper reaches of Chengfeng River, which is mainly for flood control and irrigation, combined with comprehensive utilization of power generation, breeding and tourism. The reservoir was built in 1958-1960, with a controlled drainage area of 357 square kilometers and a total storage capacity of 203 million cubic meters.

General situation of reservoir

Yanma reservoir is located in the upper reaches of Chenghe, Fengmao Township, Shanting District,. The total storage capacity is 203 million cubic meters, and Xingli storage capacity is 104 million cubic meters. It is a large (II) type reservoir with flood control as the main function and comprehensive utilization of irrigation, power generation and breeding. It is the largest reservoir in Zaozhuang City and one of the top ten reservoirs in Shandong Province.

The reservoir complex is composed of main dam, auxiliary dam, spillway, discharge tunnel and irrigation power generation project. The main dam is 1710m in length, 8.6m in crest width and 27.8m in maximum height, which is composed of clay core sand shell dam and homogeneous earth dam; the auxiliary dam is 940m in length, 6.0m in crest width and 15.0m in maximum height, which is homogeneous earth dam; the spillway has 4 gates, 10 m in clear width and 2270 cubic meters in maximum discharge capacity; the discharge tunnel is located at the left end of the main dam, which is a masonry Gallery lined with reinforced concrete pipes with diameter of 1.5 mm The maximum discharge is 35.4 cubic meters per second. The seismic intensity is VII, the elevation datum is the elevation of the abandoned Yellow River Estuary, the check flood level is 132.91m, the design flood level is 129.75m, and the flood limit level is 125.0m.

The average annual precipitation of Yanma reservoir area is 765.8 mm, the average annual water volume is 76.9 million cubic meters, the average annual evaporation is 1202 mm, and the rainfall from June to September accounts for more than 75% of the annual rainfall.

Geological Composition

The two sides of the reservoir area are surrounded by hills and the river course is winding. Chenghe river is the main river in the area, with Valley width of 200-350 meters. OUYU river flows from northeast to southwest, with width of 100-180 meters. It flows into Chenghe river at the dam site. The strata in the reservoir area mainly include Archean pre Sinian deep metamorphic strata, Proterozoic Sinian sedimentary strata, lower Paleozoic Cambrian sedimentary strata and Cenozoic Quaternary loose accumulation strata. The main geological structure is fault. It has been built into the national Yanma Lake Water Conservancy Scenic spot.

Construction process

On November 27, 1958, the reservoir project started.

On May 1, 1960, the main dam, auxiliary dam, spillway and water conveyance tunnel were completed.

Since it was put into operation in the flood season in 1960, the spillway has been deepened and widened, the clay core wall and wave wall of the main dam have been heightened, the wave wall of the auxiliary dam have been heightened, the spillway gate has been built, the flip flow energy dissipation project at the downstream of the spillway and the hydropower station have been completed.

By 1985, 3.83 million cubic meters of earthwork, 260000 cubic meters of stonework and 11000 cubic meters of concrete had been completed in the reservoir project, with a total national investment of 10.15 million yuan.

Reservoir benefit

After more than 40 years of management and operation, the reservoir benefits are remarkable. The maximum flood occurred (August 16, 1995) was reduced by 89.2%, and the direct economic loss of downstream was reduced by 780 million yuan. It has effectively protected the downstream Tengzhou City, 104 National Highway, Beijing Shanghai railway, Beijing Fuzhou Expressway, Hudong coalfield, Beijing Shanghai high speed railway, a large number of factories and mining enterprises, and 26667 hectares of farmland and the lives and property of more than 500000 people in 294 natural villages of 13 townships and towns along the river. Since the start of irrigation in October 1970, Yanma reservoir irrigation area has an average annual water consumption of 40 million cubic meters and an average annual irrigation area of 8667 hectares. The construction of Yanma reservoir has promoted the development of local industry, agriculture, forestry, fruit and fishery. Fishery alone has an annual output value of more than 60 million yuan in 2000. At the same time, after the completion of the reservoir, the water and soil are effectively preserved, the forest coverage is improved, the local climate, environment and ecological balance are greatly improved, the fish are flying in the water, the birds are playing on the water, the air is fresh, and the environment is elegant.

Specific data

The main dam of the reservoir is a sand shell dam with clay core, 1710m in length, 27.80m in maximum height and 9m in top width. The auxiliary dam of the reservoir is located on the sunny side of the xiguoumbilical mountain, with a total length of 940m, a crest elevation of 15m and a crest width of 6m. There are 4 spillways with a maximum discharge of 2185 cubic meters per second. The maximum discharge of the water conveyance tunnel is 35.40 cubic meters per second.

The installed capacity of the hydropower station is 1000 kW. The annual average generating capacity of the power station is 300000 kwh.

The reservoir has a flood control capacity of once in a thousand years. The designed irrigation area of reservoir irrigation area is 213000 mu, and the effective irrigation area is 110000 mu.
