It is located in the north of Shancheng Township, the southwest of Daxigou and the south of duanmayaoxian. In 1936, the Red Army of Chinese workers and peasants carried out the famous battle of mountain castle here. In 1962, the people's Committee of Gansu Province announced that the site of the battle of the mountain castle was a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit; in September 1983, the people's Government of Huan county built a monument to the battle of the mountain castle with a height of 3 meters and a width of 1 meter on the east side of the highway at the site of the mountain town. The inscription on the front was written by Xiao Hua, political commissar of Lanzhou Military Region at that time, and the inscription on the back was a brief introduction to the battle of Mount castle. Now it is a provincial cultural relic protection site and a municipal patriotism education base.

In December 2016, the battle site of mountain castle was listed in the list of national Red Tourism classic scenic spots.

Brief introduction of the site

In October 1936, after the three main forces of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army joined forces in Huining, Gansu Province, on November 21, they annihilated a main division of Hu zongnan's army of the Kuomintang in Huanxian mountain castle, thus completely smashing the encirclement and interception of the Central Red Army by the Kuomintang reactionaries since the long march. On the 23rd, a meeting was held in Guandi temple to celebrate the victory of the decisive battle. Leaders of the three front armies, Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Liu Bocheng, Nie Rongzhen, Zuo Quan, he long, Ren Bishi, Guan Xiangying, Xiao Ke, Wang Zhen, Xu Haidong and Cheng Zihua, attended the meeting. This campaign, the last battle of the Red Army's 25000 Li Long March and the second domestic revolutionary war, is of great significance in the history of Chinese revolution and has laid the foundation for promoting the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party.
