Historical origin
Among the mountains in the west of Zhangjiakou City, there is a mountain named ci'er mountain, which is beautiful and picturesque. Deep in the mountainside is the ancient Yunquan temple, which was built in 1393, the 26th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, and has been more than 600 years. From afar, we can see that the mountain is full of cliffs, towering trees and pavilions.
In the middle of Yunquan temple, there are two ancient willows. They are 12-13 meters high and 30-40 meters thick. It is said that they were planted in the Ming Dynasty. The strange thing is that the trunk of a tree lying east is hollow, and a pine tree grows in its belly. The willows are willow like owls. The pine branches are vigorous, and the shape accompanies the shadow. What is particularly spectacular is that under the West Cliff of the temple, there are three ancient caves, which are only very close to each other. On the right is the water cave. The entrance is engraved with the words "split Shuangyu gorge, Yunshan and Biquan", which is also known as "spray jade". The spring water in the cave is clear, and there is no ice in winter. On the left is the ice cave. The couplet at the entrance of the cave says: "the spirit liquid is for the Danzao, and the pure heart shines on the jade pot". The cave is frozen all the year round, crystal clear, and does not melt even in the hot summer. In the middle is the wind tunnel, which is cold all the year round. When something is placed at the entrance, it will be inhaled by the strong wind.

Along the mountain road, there are "Wansong" and "chuxiao Pavilion" on the top. You can have a bird's-eye view of Zhangjiakou City. The landscape of Yunquan temple in ci'er mountain has attracted a large number of visitors and made them marvel. On the cliff, there are many poems and inscriptions of tourists and celebrities. It is said that in the winter of 1923, Kang Youwei and his disciple Chen Chongyuan came to Zhangjiakou from Wuzhong to visit the Yunquan temple in ci'er mountain. He was deeply impressed by the "plain mountains and plain scenery, and the whiteness of heaven and earth". He wrote the poem "the mountain county passes the city early, the day is cold, and the day is late.". I love Yunquan temple. On the pine stone at sunrise, the poem is clear and the feeling is quiet. Later generations do not see it now, so we should remember it together. " When Kang Youwei was still enjoying his journey, he climbed the top of the mountain along the Shideng Road, overlooking the panoramic view of Zhangjiakou, and chanted the poem "walking in the snow, gradually entering the floating clouds; the road ahead is green, and the poem is cold.". After touring the wind tunnel, water cave and ice cave at the foot of Xishan cliff, he wrote: "in the blue sky, the hanging cave is amazing. Immortal original house, drunk language also into poetry. Listen to the avalanche and the broken branches in the mountain sky. It's dangerous to go out of the valley in pingming, but it's still suspicious. "
The meaning of temple name
Deep in the mountainside, there is the ancient Yunquan temple, which was built in the 26th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1393 A.D.), and has been more than 600 years.
So it is called Yunquan temple, which means "there is a clear spring in the depth of white clouds". It is a temple where Buddhism and Taoism are built together. In the temple, there is the empress hall, with the upper part for Tao and the lower part for Buddha. After more than 600 years of vicissitudes, the people's Government of Zhangjiakou City appropriated special funds to repair and plant trees for many times in the Ming, Qing and Republic of China, especially after liberation. The scenery is different throughout the year. In spring, peach and apricot flowers are blooming; in summer, green flowers are blooming; in autumn, the mountains are golden, which is particularly spectacular; in winter, silver is wrapped, which is quiet and white.
Yunquan temple, with its natural scenery of "clouds flying on springs, springs flowing among clouds" and cultural characteristics of combining Buddhism and Taoism, is welcoming more and more tourists. In 1993, it was announced by Hebei provincial government as a key cultural relics protection unit at the provincial level.
Architectural style
The expansion project of Yunquan temple was completed in September 2010. The whole temple is an integral whole, and the five platforms that follow the trend of the mountain are well-organized, one higher than the other, and one more than the other. The natural carving and humanistic design complement each other and complement each other. The land is high in the southwest and low in the northeast. The four platforms of the temple from the mountain gate are the newly built halls, which are divided into three spans: East, West and middle. The East and West spans are the living areas, and the middle span is the Buddha worship area. After passing the Guanyin hall to the Wanfo hall, it reaches the old temple of Yunquan temple.
The gate of Yunquan temple, the bell and Drum Tower, and the inscription "the first Buddhist temple outside the Great Wall" written by elder yuan Zong, chairman of Taiwan's Chinese Buddhist Association, are carved on the cliff below the gate. Up the stairs, you can see the Mountain Gate guarded by stone lions and the bell and drum towers on both sides of the mountain gate. Inside the gate hall, there are majestic faces, angry faces, majestic bodies, bare upper body, full muscles, and the two generals, hum and ha, with open feet, separated from the two sides of the gate. They are vivid, ferocious and terrifying.
The purpose of passing through the mountain gate is to let future generations remember that the four big characters of "Qingyue Daochang", the founder of Yunquan temple, appeared in front of their eyes.
Layout structure
On the second platform is the temple of heavenly kings. There are four statues of heavenly kings on both sides of the hall. Maitreya, who sits in the middle with one leg, has a smiling face, long ears and shoulders, a round belly, a bare chest and abdomen, and a simple, honest and stupid appearance. It shows Maitreya's spirit of tolerance, joy, compassion and freedom. Maitreya Bodhisattva is worshipped by Wei Tuo Bodhisattva.
On both sides are the statues of the four heavenly kings. In the East, holding the heavenly king, frowning and glaring, facing the front, holding a lute, the muscles are suddenly fierce and the momentum is threatening. In the south, the heavenly king grows red and purple with a angry face. Wearing armour and holding a sword, the king of Guangmu in the west is majestic; wearing armour, he holds a pearl in one hand and a dragon in the other. He is green and wears armor. He holds an umbrella on his right, a rat on his left and a fork on his foot.
After the Tianwang hall, the eight characters of "the same root, the same ancestor, the same path and the same origin" are engraved on the cliff of the third platform. It is suggested that Yunquan temple is the ancestral hall of Daoyuan elders, which shows the nature of Buddhism on both sides of the Taiwan Strait with the same root, ancestor, path and origin.
The third platform is the great compassion hall. In the hall, the thousand handed Guanyin Bodhisattva stands in the middle accompanied by caitongzi and XiaoLongNu. The Guanyin Bodhisattva has a quiet, kind and dignified expression. Thousand handed Guanyin expresses boundless perfection, merciful boundlessness and wisdom. Perfection does not hinder the interests of all living beings. With the opportunity of all living beings, it corresponds to five parts and five methods to satisfy all wishes. A thousand hands means that the magic power is boundless and can save people from danger. Thousand eyes means infinite wisdom, can see the world, discerning. The glittering Avalokitesvara is amazing.
Behind the hall of great sorrow is the fourth platform. In the middle of the steps on both sides of the platform, there are four characters inscribed by the current chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association, elder Chuanyin: "guangshouwuliang". The wisdom and virtue of the Tathagata, namely "limitless longevity", reveals that everyone has the Tathagata essence and Buddha nature. But people's nature, the Buddha nature, was confused by the five desires and six dust, and lost self. To recite Amitabha is to recite the original consciousness. When you chant Buddha, you feel it. The shortcut to "boundless longevity" is to recite Amitabha.
On the platform is the "Great Hall". Side by side in the hall
