The Museum of Geology and mineral resources is located diagonally opposite Shibang International Garden, Bayi Road, Lhasa city. The Tibet Museum of Geology and mineral resources was built in April 2003. It is a rare Museum of Geology and mineral resources in Tibet. The new Museum covers an area of 8600 square meters.
The museum displays Tibet's rich mineral gems and various products with Tibetan national characteristics, including Tibet's mysterious Tianzhu, turquoise, red coral, etc.
The hall on the first floor displays all kinds of original gems and ores, which gives us an intuitive understanding of the development process of Tibet's geological landforms and the formation factors of all kinds of gems. At the same time, it shows Tibet's Buddhist culture, so that we can have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of Tibet's mineral resources and religious culture.
The exhibition hall on the second floor displays the "three treasures of Tibetan Buddhism" with Tibet's unique characteristics. Tibet's Tianzhu is known as the mysterious gem of Tibet. It has been a sacred product for Buddhists since ancient times. Here we can see the real and pure Tianzhu in Tibet and understand the true and false identification of Tianzhu.
The exhibition hall on the third floor displays Tibetan Thangka, Buddhist statues, religious culture and art.
