Tianhua Tianning Temple
Tianning Temple is located on the Bank of Wujiang River in the southeast corner of Jinhua City. In 1983, the State Council announced it as a national key cultural relics protection unit. It is one of the three typical wooden structures of the Yuan Dynasty in southern China. With its distinctive characteristics of the times and unique architectural style, it attracts many ancient architectural experts and tourists.
According to the records of Jinhua county annals by Guangxu, Tianning Temple, formerly known as dazangyuan, was founded during the reign of dazhongxiangfu (1008-1016) in the Northern Song Dynasty, and was named Chengtian temple. During the reign of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty, it was changed into Wanshou temple in Chongning. Zhenghe Nianwen (1111) was named today. In 1138, Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty granted the name of Guangxiao temple to repay his father Huizong. It was rebuilt in 1318, the fifth year of Yanyou reign of Renzong in Yuan Dynasty. It was restored in the Ming Dynasty and was named Wanshou temple in Tianning. The original gate, Tianwang hall, shifutu, Daxiong hall, Dabei Pavilion, Gubai hall, monk's room and east-west wing room are relatively complete small temples. The existing main hall is known as the main hall of Tianning Temple. The main hall is three in depth and three in width. It is square, with single eaves and nine ridges. It is a beam lifting structure. The main beam is a thick wood. The vertical and horizontal joints are made of bucket arches, and the parts where the bucket arches bear greater pressure are made of a long wood. There are hundreds of Dougong in the hall, which are like birds. The city is called "Bai Wu Chao Feng". It was rebuilt in 1979 to preserve the original appearance of the Yuan Dynasty. There are two cypresses in Song Dynasty behind the main hall, which look like dragons and phoenixes. The city is called "Dragon Phoenix cypresses". It is more than 1000 years ago, which is quite precious. Unfortunately, it has withered in recent years.
According to the measurement of the Institute of conservation science and technology of the State Administration of cultural relics, some of the pillars of the main hall are 1000 years ago, and some of the beams and brackets are more than 800 years ago. This has a very valuable empirical reference value for the study of the evolution of the architectural structure of Jiangnan in the transitional period from the Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty.
