Bayan Obo mine is located in the Bayan Obo mining area. Bayan Obo is called "Baiyun bog capital" in Mongolian, which means "rich holy mountain". It is located 150 kilometers north of Baotou city. The Bayan Obo mine extends about 20 kilometers from east to west, with a relative height of about 200 meters. The reserves of rare earth resources account for 97% of the country, more than five times of the total reserves of the world except China. Bayan Obo deposit is a rare polymetallic paragenetic deposit in the world. It is 18 km long from east to west and 3 km wide from north to south, with a total area of 48 square kilometers.
