Hefei Institute of material science, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Hefei Institute of physical science, CAS, Chinese Academy of Sciences) was established in May 2003, which can be traced back to November 2001. Hefei Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences was formed by merging the former Hefei Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences with Anhui Institute of Optics and precision mechanics, Institute of plasma physics and Institute of solid state physics. In May 2003, it was officially approved to merge into Hefei Institute of material sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In April 2004, Hefei Intelligent Machinery Research Institute was established The institute belongs to the Institute.
The main disciplines of Hefei Institute of material sciences, Chinese Academy of sciences include plasma physics and magnetic confinement fusion, high magnetic field science and technology, material physics and nanotechnology, atmospheric optics and remote sensing, Environmental Optics and technology, bionic sensing and intelligent system, laser materials and technology, superconducting electrician and energy saving application, ion beam bioengineering, intelligent agricultural information technology, solar energy technology, etc Can be used in materials and engineering.
As of the end of 2014, the Institute covers an area of 2.65 square kilometers, with 10 directly affiliated research institutes, 1 National Engineering Center, 17 provincial and ministerial key laboratories / engineering centers, 2408 employees, 1361 graduate students and more than 90 postdoctoral students.
Historical evolution
Since the second half of 2000, according to the overall arrangement of the pilot work of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Hefei Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the four research institutes have begun to prepare, discuss and formulate the innovation plan of integrating the Hefei Branch with the four institutes, establishing the Hefei Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and entering the "phase II innovation project pilot" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a whole.
On May 11, 2001, the sixth president's office meeting of the Chinese Academy of Sciences deliberated and adopted the plan in principle. In November of the same year, the Chinese Academy of Sciences approved the integration of Hefei Branch, Anhui Institute of Optics and precision mechanics, Institute of plasma physics and Institute of solid state physics into a legal entity, Hefei Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (temporary name). Because the Chinese Academy of Sciences at that time intended to regard it as the restructuring unit of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hefei Institute of intelligent machinery did not agree to its integration into the joint venture Institute of fertilizer research.
On May 8, 2003, the office of the central organization committee officially approved the merger of the Hefei Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Anhui Institute of Optics and mechanics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of plasma physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of solid state physics of the Chinese Academy of sciences into the Hefei Institute of material sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences. On June 17 of the same year, the Chinese Academy of Sciences officially issued a document to cancel the qualification of four legal entities, namely, Hefei Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Anhui Institute of Optics and machinery, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of plasma physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Institute of solid state physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and establish a new legal representative unit, Hefei Institute of material sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences Hefei Branch, an unincorporated scientific research institution under the Institute, was officially abolished, and its relevant functions were transferred to Hefei Institute of material sciences.
On April 16, 2004, in view of the fact that the discipline direction of Hefei Institute of intelligent machinery has been adjusted according to the requirements of the Institute, the Chinese Academy of Sciences no longer insisted on the idea of restructuring the Institute, and approved the cancellation of the legal personality of the Institute and its ownership in Hefei Institute of material sciences.
On December 28, 2005, Hefei high intensity magnetic field science and technology research center, an unincorporated research unit affiliated to Hefei Institute of materials science and China University of science and technology, was established.
On April 30, 2006, Anhui circular economy technology Engineering Institute was established.
On April 30, 2008, the Chinese Academy of Sciences approved the establishment of the high intensity magnetic field Science Center (unincorporated research unit) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which is under the management of Hefei Institute of material sciences.
In 2014, Hefei Research Institute established a new Applied Technology Research Institute on the basis of the former "circular economy Engineering Institute", and established a scientific and technological achievements transfer and transformation organization - "Hefei Institute of technology innovation engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences". In November of the same year, the Hefei Research Institute and the University of science and technology of China jointly applied for the approval of Hefei Grand Science Center, becoming the first batch of grand science centers of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. On December 31 of the same year, Hefei Research Institute became one of the branches of "robot and intelligent manufacturing" Innovation Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
