introduce
Baoyun tower is located in Hengshui City, Hebei Province.
Baoyun tower is a brick and wood structure, 36.6m high and 28.8m around the base. On the south side of the first floor, there is a Buddhist niche with a stone lotus sitting Buddha. In addition, there is a gourd shaped tower brake at the top of the tower. Different from Jingxian relic pagoda, the architectural styles of each floor of the pagoda are different, such as Yuanyang Dougong or Meihua Dougong. The tower is a nine story octahedral pyramid, vigorous and simple, reflecting the architectural talent of the working people.
building structure
The first floor of the tower, double eaves, and in the South and North have a ticket door. On the second floor, there are coupons in the East and West. On the third floor, there are coupons in the north and south. On the fourth floor, there are coupons in the four sides. From the ground floor to the seventh floor, there are brick steps circling up inside the tower, but the bottom of the tower is a through type. You can go up to the second, third and fourth floors by picking up the steps inside the tower. For each upper floor, you must turn half a circle along the eaves outside the tower and enter the tower through another door. If you want to go to the next floor, you still need to go out of the tower through the ticket door and turn half a circle to enter the tower In this form, climbing the tower, I do not know what the design principle, but personally, quite thrilling. Although you can have a panoramic view of the tower outside and within a radius of tens of miles, you still feel uneasy even though the eaves of the tower are more than two feet wide. When you get to the bottom of the tower, you can feel relieved and glad to land safely. But there is a sense of pride. Above the fifth floor of the tower, it is an empty tube type, and it is not necessary to step out of the tower. The fifth floor of the tower has four facing gate, which is called "four day gate" by local people.
In other words, the fastest way to climb the tower is to turn 1 / 4 circle to climb the next level. The order is as follows: the first floor turns to the left, the second floor turns to the right, the third floor turns to the right, the fourth floor turns to the right, and the rest ascends the tower from the inside. However, due to the protection of cultural relics by the state, climbing of Baoyun pagoda has been banned. People can only look up to the pagoda and see the magnificent wind.
historical origin
As for the date when Baoyun pagoda was first built, there are different historical records. Some say it was built in the Sui Dynasty, while others say it was built in the Tang Dynasty. On May 30, 1980, Professor Zhang Yuhuan of Institute of history of natural sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other three people conducted a field investigation on Baoyun tower. According to the construction forms of "bamboo head" and "square round door" on the eaves of the first and second floors, it really belongs to the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty, while the seats, eaves and carved window lattice on the third floor and above are obvious architectural features of the Song Dynasty. So it was built in the early Northern Song Dynasty.
Protection status
On May 25, 2006, Baoyun pagoda, as an ancient building of Song Dynasty, was officially listed in the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units list by the State Council.

There is a tower in Baoyun temple, 36.5 meters high. The tower is an octahedral pyramid brick and wood structure. There are doors on four or more floors. The architectural styles of each floor of the tower are different, either into Yuanyang Dougong or plum Dougong. It is powerful, simple and majestic. If you climb to the top of the tower, you need to have some courage, because you have to go around the tower half a circle to find the entrance on the other side.
Millennium immortal grass
It's also a pleasure to visit the temple and feel the "Millennium immortal grass" to feel the vicissitudes of history. The Millennium immortal grass grows on the left side of Baoyun tower, in front of the national treasure tablet. "Millennium immortal grass" belongs to Orchidaceae, also known as iris, is a perennial herb. This plant in the temple was planted by Wang Zhihuan, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty. In the second year of Tang Kaiyuan, the 26 year old Wang Zhihuan was highly appreciated by the prime minister Zhang Jiuling, and was recommended to Hengshui county at that time. Before leaving, I saw that there was iris sinensis in front of Xiangye's house. It touched the scene, so I said to Xiangye: this grass is not greedy for fat and water, and will be green for thousands of years. Since the wise Prime Minister trusted me, the students must be like this greedy iris lactiflora, not afraid of the wind and frost in the official career of serving the country and the people, and always uphold the just nature of the literati. And ask for a few planted in Hengshui, leaving the eternal story.
