Fusheng Temple
Fusheng temple is located in Guangcun, 17 kilometers northwest of Xinjiang county, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province. The temple area is covered with trees and the site is towering. The buildings are stacked high and low.
Historical evolution
It was built in Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty, repaired in song, yuan and Jin Dynasties, and overhauled in 1498. The second floor of the bell and drum stands on both sides of the front of the temple. From the front to the back of the middle line, there are four courtyards: the mountain gate, the heavenly king hall, the Mituo hall, and the rear hall. On both sides, there are wing rooms and auxiliary halls. The scale is spectacular and orderly.
Layout structure
Mituo hall has five square rooms, surrounded by corridors, double eaves and nine ridge roofs, five Dou Gong pavilions, and four rafters on the beam frame, with the back breast on the gold pillars. It is a pure system of Yuan Dynasty. In the hall, there are Maituo Buddha, Guanyin and dashizhi. On the back, there are sculptures of Nanhai Guanyin, shancai Tongzi, Mingwang and their donors, all of which are original works.
In the Ming Dynasty, four heavenly kings and eighteen Arhats were built on both sides. Bodhisattva, boy and arhat are the best sculptors. The back hall has seven rooms and two floors. The lower floor is the three Buddha cave and the upper floor is the Sutra Pavilion. The three Buddhas (Sakyamuni, randeng and Mitha) and the Bodhisattvas in the cave are all works of the Ming Dynasty, among which the Bodhisattvas with six bodies are especially exquisite.
Cultural relics protection
On June 25, 2001, Fusheng temple, as an ancient building in the yuan and Ming Dynasties, was approved by the State Council to be listed in the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
