Beiyang Navy loyalty monument
Beiyanghaijun zhonghunbei is located in the eastern part of Weihai City, on the North Hill of the Beiyang naval commander's office in Liugong Island. In 1988, Weihai Municipal People's government was established to commemorate the centenary of the Beiyang Navy in the Qing Dynasty (1888-1988). It was completed in May 1989. The monument is hexagonal and 30 meters high. There are relief carvings on both sides of the monument. The pedestal is made of Stone Island red granite, and the body is overlaid with Laizhou white marble. Designed by Qiu Zhihai et al. Qi Qizhang wrote an article. The inscription briefly describes the formation of the Beiyang Navy and the whole story of the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895. Standing in the pine forest, the monument looks like a huge sword piercing into the blue sky, symbolizing the courage and determination of the Chinese nation to defend the motherland and resist aggression.
