Lingyan temple is located in Gulou West Street of Yuxian city. It is one of the famous temples in Yuxian. It was built in Jin Dynasty, destroyed in war at the end of Yuan Dynasty, and rebuilt later. Now it is a Ming Dynasty building. Lingyan Temple faces south. From south to north, there are Mountain Gate, Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, sutra Pavilion and Zen house, covering an area of 6682 square meters. There are four ancient buildings in the temple of heavenly king, the main hall and the East and West Hall. According to textual research, Lingyan temple was built by Wang Zhen (from Yuzhou), the great eunuch of the Ming Dynasty, who invited the emperor Yingzong of the Ming Dynasty to build the temple. The main hall is a single eaves veranda with a tile roof. It has five sides and four sides. The front and back of the five beams all come out of the front porch. Under the eaves, there are five Dougong. Hall built-in exquisite ceiling and Douba, Dousi caisson. The ceiling is painted with "eight treasures of Buddhism", "flying crane" and "flowers". There are three caisson with painted dragons on the top. Inside the hall, there are water ink dragons painted on the walls of the eyes of the arches, which are of various shapes and vivid. Under the front eaves, there are five floor fans, which are three cross six bowls of rhombic flowers. The auxiliary hall is located between the heavenly king hall and the main hall, with a single eaves hanging on the top of the mountain cloth tile, three in three and five beams. There are more than ten Zen rooms.

The main hall is a veranda roof, a beam structure and a painted caisson, which is typical of the official style of Ming Dynasty. It should be rebuilt by Emperor Yingzong in the sixth year of Ming Dynasty. It was also built by Emperor Yingzong in the orthodox period of the Ming Dynasty.
