Heilongjiang University of traditional Chinese medicine was founded in 1954. After more than half a century of construction and development, the university has become a higher traditional Chinese medicine university with higher teaching, scientific research and medical treatment level, which has certain influence at home and abroad. Now it is a high-level university in Heilongjiang Province. In 2004, the University obtained the first batch of excellent conclusions from the Ministry of education's undergraduate teaching evaluation. In 2007, the University was the first unit to pass the Ministry of education's undergraduate TCM professional certification. In 2008, it was identified as the construction unit of national TCM clinical research base. In 2009, it was promoted to the national advanced unit of spiritual civilization construction.

The school is located in Harbin, a famous city of northern China with beautiful scenery. The campus environment is elegant with green trees. The building is a combination of Chinese and Western styles with unique style. The main teaching building and auditorium are elegant European style buildings, belonging to the national protection building. There are 21 statues of famous ancient Chinese medicine experts and the "classic prescription path" on the campus, forming a unique Chinese Medicine Cultural Park - "the road of great medicine".

The school has 11 colleges, 11 affiliated hospitals (9 non affiliated), 1 Research Institute, 27 teaching hospitals and 85 practice bases. It has 20 undergraduate majors and 13 professional directions, covering medical, science, arts, engineering, management and other disciplines. There are 22 disciplines with the right to confer doctor's degree and 28 disciplines with the right to confer master's degree. At present, there are 15151 full-time students, including 263 doctoral students, 1547 master students, 10137 undergraduates, 2694 junior college students and 510 international students.

The university has four postdoctoral research stations, namely, TCM, TCM, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and pharmacy. It is one of the first batch of construction sites for the second category of specialty (TCM) and the first category of specialty (TCM, pharmaceutical preparations, acupuncture and massage). The Innovative Experimental Zone of traditional Chinese medicine talents training mode is the first batch of Innovative Experimental Zone of the Ministry of education, and the Innovative Experimental Zone of traditional Chinese medicine clinical talents training mode is the Innovative Experimental Zone of Heilongjiang Province. The university has 4 national key disciplines, 21 national administration of traditional Chinese medicine key disciplines, 11 provincial key disciplines, 16 provincial leading talent echelons, 8 national quality courses, 22 provincial quality courses, and 52 school level quality courses. The university is one of the experimental institutions of clinical doctor's and master's degree education approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and one of the institutions of higher learning where the national drug clinical research base and "Yangtze River Scholar Award Program" set up the post of distinguished professor. The first batch of experimental teaching centers of the University were designated as national experimental teaching demonstration centers. Since the 10th five year plan, it has won one first prize of national teaching achievement, five second prizes and 49 provincial teaching achievement prizes. The University won the title of the first national excellent Higher Education Research Institute.

At present, the university has 1 Key Laboratory jointly built by the Ministry of education, 3 key research laboratories of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, 10 three-level laboratories of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine, 3 provincial key laboratories, 4 provincial key laboratories of colleges and universities, 2 school enterprise cooperation engineering technology centers of Heilongjiang Province, 1 International Science and technology cooperation base of traditional Chinese medicine of the Ministry of science and technology, and 1 International Science and technology cooperation base of traditional Chinese medicine of Heilongjiang Province One cooperation base and one science and technology innovation platform in Heilongjiang Province. In 2008 and 2012, the doctoral dissertations trained by the University were awarded "National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations" by the Ministry of education and the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. It is at the international advanced level in the research of serum pharmacochemistry of traditional Chinese medicine and the material basis of efficacy of natural Chinese medicine, and at the domestic leading level in the research of prescription compatibility law, acupuncture mechanism and clinical research of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of internal medicine, gynecology, nephropathy and other major diseases.

The First Affiliated Hospital (School of clinical medicine) is the construction unit of the national clinical research base of traditional Chinese medicine, the national third class a hospital and the National Model Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine. The Second Affiliated Hospital (College of acupuncture and massage) is the first hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in our province recognized by the national drug clinical trial institution, which is one of the first batch of construction units of modern traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in China. The two affiliated hospitals have 18 national key specialties and 23 provincial key specialties.

The school has 3043 staff (1169 in the school headquarters). Among them, there are 929 professors, associate professors and personnel with corresponding professional titles, 114 doctoral supervisors, 375 master supervisors, 41 experts enjoy special government subsidies, 3 middle-aged and young experts with outstanding contributions from the Ministry of health, 4 national candidates for the project, 3 national famous teachers, 1 national advanced worker, 1 female model and 6 national excellent teachers . The university has the only drug safety evaluation center in Heilongjiang Province, established the gap research center of Chinese herbal medicine in Heilongjiang Province; as the leading unit of "provincial pharmaceutical industry school enterprise cooperation professional committee", cooperated with many enterprises, established the science and technology industry of Heilongjiang University of traditional Chinese medicine Jiujiu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Heilongjiang Baoquan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and other school enterprise cooperation; and built a black tea factory covering an area of 1 million square meters Qinghe seed and seedling breeding base of traditional Chinese medicine of Longjiang University of traditional Chinese medicine, and gap demonstration base of traditional Chinese medicine has been built in 14 cities and counties of Heilongjiang Province.

As one of the first batch of institutions approved by the Ministry of education to enroll foreign students in China, the university has carried out cooperation and exchanges in education, medical treatment and science and technology with nearly 40 medical colleges or research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions in the world. At present, the university has 139 long-term international cooperation projects, receiving more than 500 foreign visiting scholars and cultivating foreign talents There are more than 5000 Chinese students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. He has undertaken many large-scale international academic conferences, successively held ten "Sino Russian pharmaceutical forum", two Sino Hungarian bilateral medical academic seminars and the first Sino German sleep research academic seminar, and held "Longjiang Forum on traditional Chinese medicine". The world's first Confucius Institute of traditional Chinese medicine, jointly established by our university, South Bank University of London and Harbin Normal University, has been awarded the title of "excellent Confucius Institute" for four consecutive times. In April 2012, Li Changchun attended the 5th anniversary celebration of the establishment of Confucius Institute of traditional Chinese Medicine in our university.

The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is up to 198 million yuan, including superconducting nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, ultra high performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometer, electron microscope (transmission), laser confocal scanner and other large-scale precision instruments and equipment. The school library has a collection of 2.78 million books, realizing the automation and networking of document collection, borrowing and retrieval. The Chinese medicine literature retrieval center has been determined as the Chinese medicine literature retrieval sub center, realizing the internationalization of literature retrieval. The Journal of traditional Chinese medicine, information of traditional Chinese medicine and Clinical Journal of acupuncture and moxibustion edited and published by the university are all class I journals of Natural Science in China, and are included as the core journals of science and technology in China.
