Inner Mongolia University of technology is located in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Its predecessor is Suiyuan higher vocational school, which was founded in 1951. In 1958, Inner Mongolia Institute of technology was established with the support of Tsinghua University. It was once subordinate to the Ministry of machinery industry and the Ministry of agricultural machinery. In 1983, it was transferred to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and renamed Inner Mongolia University of technology in 1993. At present, the school is running in Xincheng campus, Jinchuan campus and Zhungeer campus, covering an area of 3178 mu.

After more than 60 years of development, the university has been built into a multi-disciplinary university with distinct characteristics, which focuses on engineering, combines engineering, science, arts, economics, management, law, education and art, and has a complete talent training system for doctors, masters and undergraduates. At present, it has 24 institutes (departments and centers), 54 research institutes (institutes), 1 postdoctoral mobile station, 3 first level disciplines authorized by doctoral degree, and 14 second level disciplines authorized by doctoral degree (including 2 second level disciplines); There are 18 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 87 second-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 17 fields authorized by master of engineering professional degree, with the right to grant master of Business Administration (MBA) and master of Engineering Management (MEM) professional degrees, and 71 undergraduate majors, with the qualification of recommending excellent undergraduates to study for master's degree free of examination. There are 25672 full-time college students, 4601 master students, 216 doctoral students and 177 international students.

The school has 2045 staff and 1437 full-time teachers, including 155 professors, 455 associate professors, 51 doctoral supervisors and 557 master supervisors. 82.67% of the teachers have obtained doctoral and master's degrees. Among the teachers, 69 were granted special subsidies from the State Council or the title of "young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions" by the state and autonomous region, 9 were awarded the "Inner Mongolia outstanding talent award", 12 were selected into the "new century outstanding talent project" of the Ministry of education, 52 were selected into the "grassland talents" project of Inner Mongolia, 6 were selected into the "grassland talents" innovation team, and 1 was selected into the "million talents" project of the state Among them, 42 were selected as the first and second levels of the "new century 321 talent project", 11 were selected as the first and second levels of the "111" higher education talent training project of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and 14 were selected as the "science and technology talents support plan of colleges and Universities" of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The University also hired a number of well-known scholars at home and abroad as part-time professors.

At present, the university has 5 characteristic specialty construction sites of the Ministry of education, 4 pilot specialties of excellent engineer training plan of the Ministry of education, 10 key disciplines of the autonomous region and 4 key disciplines of the autonomous region; There are 1 National off campus engineering practice center, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot specialty, 1 autonomous region comprehensive reform pilot specialty, 2 autonomous region key construction specialties, and 25 autonomous region brand specialties. There are 1 national and local joint engineering research center, 1 Key Laboratory jointly built by the Ministry of education, 7 experimental teaching demonstration centers at the autonomous region level, and 23 research platforms at the autonomous region level relying on the University. During the 12th Five Year Plan period, he has undertaken more than 1000 scientific research projects at all levels, including National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Foundation of China, national "863" plan, National Science and technology support plan, and won 38 science and technology awards at provincial and ministerial levels, including 2 second prizes of national science and technology progress, 2 first prizes of Inner Mongolia natural science, 213 national authorized patents, and won SCI, EI, ist awards P. CSSCI and other retrieval systems included more than 2000 papers.

The University actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation, and has established long-term inter school cooperation with more than 10 famous foreign universities, such as Purdue University, Meiji University and Quebec University. In 2007, it became the enrollment unit of the "Chinese Government Scholarship Program" of the Ministry of education.

The school attaches great importance to teaching quality and personnel training. In 2006, the Ministry of education got "excellent" in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level. In 2012, it was rated as "50 typical experience universities for graduates' employment in China". Our university is one of the first batch of 32 national college students' cultural quality education bases approved by the Ministry of education.
