Hebei Vocational College of Arts and crafts, abbreviated as Hebei Institute of Arts and crafts, is the only public full-time Art College in Hebei Province, which aims to cultivate talents of Arts and crafts design.

In February 2013, with the approval of the people's Government of Hebei Province and the record of the Ministry of education, the College of Arts and crafts of Hebei University was established as an independent Vocational College of Arts and crafts. The predecessor of the college is Hebei Arts and crafts school, which was founded in 1964.

The college is located in Baoding, a famous historical and cultural city with a long history and profound cultural heritage. The campus covers an area of 231.8 mu, with a total construction area of 85300 square meters. It has many teaching and scientific research institutions, such as "Hebei Arts and Crafts Association", "Wuqiang New Year Painting Studio", "interior painting art studio", art museum, etc. There are 2000 square meters of on campus training workshops and 9 off campus training bases.

The college has a team of teachers with good comprehensive quality, strong professionalism, high professional and technical level, reasonable structure and full-time and part-time combination. Among them, there are 50 senior professional titles and 15 double qualified teachers. There are 9 members of China Artists Association, 1 member of China Calligraphers Association, 16 members of Hebei Artists Association and Hebei Calligraphers Association, 1 provincial excellent expert, and 1 "master of Chinese arts and crafts" awarded by UNESCO. Teachers' works have won 104 professional awards at or above the provincial level. 76 teachers' design works and schemes have been adopted by units and departments at all levels such as Beijing Olympic Games, Shanghai World Expo, Beijing Zhongnanhai conference hall, China Century Monument and China Banknote Printing Corporation. A large number of paintings and sculptures have been collected by the Great Hall of the people and China Art Museum. The students' works under the guidance of teachers have won 53 professional awards above the provincial level and published 18 textbooks and monographs. The college has cultivated a large number of talents, including Professor Liu Yuanfeng, Dean of Beijing Institute of fashion, Professor Sun Lijun, Dean of Animation College of Beijing Film Academy, Professor Yang Wenhui, Dean of Art College of Hebei University, Professor Jiang Zhinan, director of Painting Department of Academy of fine arts of Tsinghua University, Professor Zhang Jingbo, vice chairman of Hebei art association and director of Art Research Institute, as well as famous painters, sculptors and masters of Arts and crafts Experts and scholars.

After years of teaching practice, the college has explored a teaching road with distinctive characteristics, which is characterized by "taking the inheritance and development of traditional arts and crafts as the basis, using modern design consciousness and technology as the guarantee, and taking the road of inheritance, development, research and innovation in Arts and crafts design and painting education". The college takes arts and crafts design and modern art design education as the main body, adheres to the principle of running a school with artistic characteristics, takes employment as the guidance, vigorously promotes the "combination of colleges and enterprises" and "combination of work and study", attaches great importance to the teaching of practice and training, and improves students' art theory and professional skills.

The college has set up environmental art design (interior and garden art design), decoration art design, multimedia design and production, film and television animation, fashion design, product modeling design, sculpture art design, fine arts and other majors. Among them, environmental art design and decoration art design are two strong majors in our college, and they are also the first majors to realize practical teaching reform; film and television animation major is established under the guidance of Professor Sun Lijun, Dean of Animation College of Beijing Film Academy and doctoral supervisor. The students of grade 08 participated in the production of the best animation "Legend of elk" which won the 2009 China Huabiao award, the popular animation "Legend of Wulin" and "strange journey" of CCTV; during the internship of students majoring in fashion design, they designed and produced custom-made costumes for famous domestic performers, which were highly praised by the industry; the teachers and students of product modeling design successively cooperated with Baoding Lekai group and Changcheng Group A group of large and medium-sized enterprises, such as the City Automobile Co., Ltd., participated in the design of a large number of physical works, including the haver car model, enterprise identification logo, etc.; sculpture art designer students have won many awards in the most authoritative national art exhibition, annual exhibition and annual exhibition in the art field, and have been praised as "medal specialist" by the counterparts in the national art field.

The students' employment prospects are optimistic, and they actively participate in various international and domestic vocational skills competitions. In 2011 alone, a number of students won many awards, such as "pioneer Cup" national fashion design competition, "the Sixth International College Students' art design competition" and so on. In addition to directly entering various arts and crafts enterprises and institutions to engage in product development and production, graduates can also engage in interior design, landscape planning and design, advertising poster creative design, printing layout design, corporate identity design (VI design), fashion design and production, industrial product design, packaging design, animation, Chinese painting, sculpture and wall painting according to their majors Painting and other types of artistic creation. College graduates over the years have a high employment rate, only in Hebei Province, environmental art, decoration two fields, 40% of the design backbone graduated from our college.
