Shanghai Customs College

Shanghai customs college is a full-time ordinary university with higher education enrollment qualification approved by the Ministry of education, directly under the General Administration of Customs of the people's Republic of China. Customs higher education in China has a history of more than 100 years. In 1908, the Qing government established the tax school in Beijing (later renamed as the tax school, and moved to Shanghai). The school was one of the earliest customs higher education schools in the world. After the founding of new China, Shanghai Customs school was established in 1953, upgraded to Shanghai Customs College in 1980 with the approval of the State Council, and renamed Shanghai Customs College in 1996. In March 2007, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Shanghai Customs College on the basis of Shanghai customs college. In December 2012, the University was officially approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as a "talent training project serving the special needs of the country" - a pilot work unit for bachelor's degree awarding units to train master's degree postgraduates. In November 2014, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of education.

At present, the university has five teaching departments (departments) including Department of customs administration, Department of economy and business administration, Department of law, Department of foreign languages, and Department of Ideological and political theory. It also has seven major programs in customs administration, logistics management, auditing, international business, taxation, law, English, and master of Taxation, covering four major programs in management, economics, law, and literature Subject categories. Among them, the specialty of customs management is specially designed for the national control distribution, and the specialty of law and taxation are respectively the second and third batch of characteristic specialty construction points of colleges and universities of the Ministry of education. At present, there are 2213 full-time students, including 2137 undergraduates and 76 postgraduates.

The main task of the school is to cultivate applied, compound and foreign-related high-quality customs management professionals and foreign trade professionals serving port logistics and international business in line with the needs of Customs cause and economic and social development. And actively carry out customs theoretical research and international exchanges. At the same time, the school undertakes the tasks of continuing education, knowledge updating and business training for middle and senior cadres in the customs system, and gradually undertakes the task of training Customs personnel in the region according to the division of labor of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the requirements of countries and regions in the Asia Pacific region, and fulfills the corresponding international obligations.

The school has 151 full-time teachers, including 16 professors and 48 associate professors. The proportion of teachers with senior professional and technical positions is 42.4%. There are 65 teachers with doctor's degree, 71 teachers with master's degree, and 90.1% of them have graduate degree. The structure of teaching staff is reasonable and the level of teaching and scientific research is high. The school has a Research Institute of Customs Administration and a research center for Customs Law, customs risk management, customs duties, customs public relations, customs declaration, etc. to carry out scientific research in close connection with the reform and development of customs and the hot and difficult issues in bilateral, multilateral and regional customs international cooperation. In 2009, the school was approved to set up Shanghai social science innovation research base and Shanghai Development Strategy Research Institute studio. Publish the academic journal customs and trade research.
