Rongchang campus of Southwest University, formerly known as Jianhua senior agricultural vocational school founded in 1938, was the seat of the central animal husbandry Experimental Institute, agricultural experimental Institute and serum Research Institute of the national government during the Anti Japanese war. After liberation, it was the famous Sichuan Rongchang animal husbandry and veterinary school. In 1978, it was promoted to Sichuan Animal Husbandry and veterinary college with the approval of the State Council. In 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it merged with the former Southwest Agricultural University and Citrus Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to form a new Southwest Agricultural University and set up Rongchang campus. In July 2005, Southwest Agricultural University and Southwest Normal University merged to form Southwest University, and its campus was renamed as Rongchang campus of Southwest University. The campus is located in "China animal husbandry science and technology city", core area of Chongqing national modern animal husbandry demonstration area, National Health City, national civilization County, National Garden County, and Rongchang County, the regional central city of Chongqing. Campus traffic is very convenient, in Chengdu Chongqing Expressway, Chengdu Chongqing railway and Chengdu Chongqing high speed railway opened in 2014. The campus has a beautiful environment and is a garden style unit in Chongqing. It covers an area of 462 mu, with a construction area of 150000 square meters. The total value of instruments and equipment is more than 56 million yuan, the library has a collection of more than 320000 books and 487200 digital resources, and has realized VPN link with the headquarters. There are more than 4200 full-time undergraduate students, 120 master's degree students, and more than 1500 students of various types of adult education, correspondence education, and off campus education. There are nearly 500 in-service teaching staff, including more than 120 professors, associate professors and other senior titles, and 32 master's supervisors. Nearly 70% of the full-time teachers have master's and doctoral degrees. Among the teachers are members of the veterinary drug evaluation committee of the Ministry of agriculture, academic leaders of Chongqing, young and middle-aged backbone teachers of Chongqing universities, 322 talent project of Chongqing, provincial and ministerial level young and middle-aged tribute experts, excellent teachers and other experts and outstanding teachers. At present, the campus has animal science department, animal medicine department, Fisheries Department, business department, information management department, basic department and adult education department. There are 10 undergraduate programs and 7 master programs in animal science, animal medicine, aquaculture, computer science and technology, information management and information system, marketing, public utilities management, food science and Engineering (animal products processing and Storage Engineering), animal pharmacy, aquatic science and technology. It has initially formed a multi-disciplinary (agriculture, management and Engineering), multi-level and multi-form school running pattern with animal husbandry, veterinary medicine and aquatic products as the main subjects, covering all links of animal husbandry and fishery before, during and after production. The campus has Sichuan animal feed factory, Kexin animal medicine factory, practice ranch, practice fishing ground, animal hospital, herbarium, computer center, e-government, e-commerce, logistics market and other teaching practice places with complete facilities. In 2004, the "8 + 1" school enterprise consortium was established with 8 large GMP veterinary drug enterprises in Rongchang to realize resource sharing and mutual benefit. In addition, we have established long-term friendly cooperative relations with many enterprises, institutions and government departments in Sichuan and Chongqing, and established off campus teaching experimental practice bases for teachers and students. The campus has undertaken a large number of national, provincial and municipal major scientific research and technology promotion projects. More than 20 scientific research achievements have won national, provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, and more than 10 national invention patents. Among them, gosling plague, swine erysipelas and Pseudorabies detection methods have been listed as the national animal disease detection regulations by the Ministry of agriculture; Professor Wang Yongcai's achievement of "taking root in the fertile soil of animal husbandry in Western China and cultivating high-quality entrepreneurial talents" won the second prize of the Sixth National Teaching Achievement Award of higher education; Professor Zuo Fuyuan presided over the "herbivorous livestock project" of the science and technology support plan of the Ministry of science and technology Chongqing's 11th five year plan major science and technology special project "breeding and healthy breeding of herbivorous livestock" (scientific research funding of 10 million yuan): Associate Professor Wu Qing presided over the national Spark Science and technology project (scientific research funding of 6 million yuan); Dr. Huang Wei developed the purified yolk antibody against chicken infectious disease bursa Fabricius, which won the national class II new veterinary drug certificate for biological products; Prof. Zheng Shuming discovered and named a new fish species Yuxi black chicken, the first local breed of poultry in Chongqing, was successfully cultivated by the research group led by Associate Professor Yin Huagui. The campus has carried out academic exchanges and scientific and technological cooperation with universities and scientific research institutions in more than 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Russia, Japan, the Netherlands, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, etc. it has hired foreign teachers to teach for many years, which has promoted the exchange and development of science and technology.
