Zhongshan vocational and technical college is located in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, the hometown of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, the pioneer of China's great democratic revolution. Founded in June 2006, it was identified as the construction unit of Guangdong Province's Model Vocational Colleges in November 2013. In September 2016, it was awarded the first-class construction unit of Guangdong Province's higher vocational colleges. It has successively won the only "Guangdong Province's intellectual property demonstration institution", the first batch of Guangdong Province's College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration schools, Huang Yanpei's "excellent School Award" of vocational education, and the national award of "excellent School Award" Vocational colleges, charming campus and other honorary titles. The school has five colleges and one center, including school of economics and management, School of information engineering, School of mechanical and electrical engineering, School of art and design, School of entrepreneurship education and quality education center. There are more than 8000 full-time students and more than 8000 adult education students.

The school vigorously implements the education and teaching reform, closely adheres to the characteristics of Zhongshan's industrial structure, implements the professional layout of "one town, one product and one specialty", and builds 34 majors and 5 major professional groups that are highly connected with the advanced manufacturing industry, modern service industry and strategic emerging industries of Professional Towns in the Pearl River Delta region, so as to realize the seamless connection of "specialty industry" and "talent market". It has a number of backbone specialties close to the national key industries and Zhongshan pillar industries, including one provincial first-class brand construction specialty, four provincial second-class brand construction specialties, and 11 provincial key construction specialties. The school carries forward the innovative spirit of "dare to be the first in the world", and the system and mechanism reform of "government school enterprise" cooperation in running schools is an excellent pilot project of comprehensive education reform in the province, which has been demonstrated and promoted in the whole province. The school and professional town are deeply integrated with production and education, and the school enterprise cooperation covers more than 90% of the majors. At present, the four industrial colleges have formed a dual or multiple investment structure of town and school, and constructed the Dean responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors. The school actively serves the regional innovation driven development strategy, and is committed to serving the industrial transformation and upgrading of professional towns and technological innovation of small, medium and micro enterprises. Nearly 100 teachers are dispatched to rural areas and towns as science and technology commissioners of the provincial Ministry to assist enterprises in tackling key problems in science and technology.
