Inner Mongolia sports vocational college is subordinate to the Sports Bureau of the autonomous region. Its predecessor is Inner Mongolia sports school, which was founded in 1965. It was established in June 2001 with the approval of the people's Government of the autonomous region. It is the only sports college in the autonomous region. The level of running school is mainly higher vocational education at the level of junior college, and it also runs secondary technical school and preparatory class for secondary technical school.

Since the establishment of the college, under the care of the Party committee and the government of the autonomous region, under the leadership of the Sports Bureau and the Department of education of the autonomous region, the leading group of the college has led the teachers and students of the whole college to comprehensively implement the party's education policy, implement the scientific outlook on development, coordinate development, and have made some achievements in running the college. With talent cultivation as the center, excellent competitive sports talents as the focus, and high-quality and high skilled sports service management talents as the goal, the college has gradually formed a teaching management mode and training system with sports characteristics. The college covers an area of 124000 square meters, with a building area of 36000 square meters. The educational environment is elegant and the school facilities are complete. In recent years, the athletes trained by the college have won 21 national competitions, 179 regional competitions and 71 excellent sports teams of the autonomous region.
