China University of Geosciences (Beijing)

China University of Geosciences (Beijing) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education, which is characterized by geology, resources, environment and geoscience engineering technology, with science and engineering as the main feature and coordinated development of science, engineering, culture, management, economics and law as the multi disciplines. It is one of the earliest 33 universities with graduate schools in China, and is the first one to enter the construction of "211 Project" and "innovation platform for advantageous disciplines". The predecessor of the university is Beijing Institute of Geosciences, which was formed in 1952 by the combination of the geological departments of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Tianjin University and Tangshan railway college. In 1987, with the approval of the State Education Commission, the University changed its name to China University of Geosciences. It runs independently in Beijing and Wuhan, and is called China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).

In the new era and new stage, under the guidance of the scientific outlook on development, the University adheres to the school running concept of "characteristics plus quality products", keeps pace with the times, explores and innovates, and is striding forward towards the goal of building a world-class university in the field of earth science proposed by Premier Wen Jiabao, an alumni.
