Minxi Vocational and technical college is a public full-time ordinary university approved by Fujian Provincial People's government and registered by the Ministry of education. It is a model higher vocational college in Fujian Province and a training college for skilled talents in construction industry in China. Founded in 1983, the former Minxi Vocational University was renamed Minxi Vocational and technical college in February 2004 with the approval of Fujian Provincial People's government. The college covers an area of 300000 square meters, with a planned land area of 450000 square meters and a construction area of 200000 square meters. The campus is beautiful, safe and harmonious, with reasonable layout, and enjoys the reputation of "garden style" University.

The college is located in Longyan City, Fujian Province, which is an important transportation and material distribution center of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. Longyan is a famous old revolutionary base area and an important part of the Central Soviet area. Over the past 30 years of reform and opening up, Longyan has made great progress in economy and society, greatly improved its comprehensive strength, improved its infrastructure, and built a modern three-dimensional transportation network with airports, expressways, railways, national and provincial roads as the main body.

At present, the college has more than 7000 full-time students and 450 teaching staff, including 67 professors and associate professors, 100 double quality teachers, 2 famous teachers in Fujian Province and 1 provincial excellent teaching team. The total value of teaching equipment is more than 50 million yuan, with a collection of 803000 books. The Journal of Minxi Vocational and technical college, an excellent academic journal of local colleges and universities in China, has been published publicly. A literature retrieval and consultation station of Chinese academic journals and a campus computer network covering the whole college have been built. There are more than 40 experimental training rooms and more than 100 off campus training bases. There is one training base supported by the central government and two training bases supported by the provincial government. As a training and assessment base for high skilled talents, the college's vocational skill appraisal station can carry out vocational qualification appraisal and certification for 38 types of work (posts), and issue national, industrial and enterprise qualification certificates. In recent years, the acquisition rate of graduates' vocational qualification certificates has reached more than 95%.

The college has 10 departments and 43 specialties, including 1 national pilot specialty, 1 provincial comprehensive experimental project, 6 provincial excellent specialties and 10 provincial excellent courses. The college adheres to the education idea of "taking morality as the basis, knowledge as the basis and ability as the main line", and pays attention to the cultivation of students' comprehensive professional ability. Graduates show strong competitive strength with the advantages of high quality, strong skills and short period of post adaptation. The average employment rate of graduates in 2006-2008 is 98.19%, and that of graduates in 2009 is 94.57%, ranking among Higher Vocational Colleges in the province At the top. The college also provides a variety of channels for students to further their studies. Students can take part in the "college to university" examination or take part in the distance and self-taught undergraduate education to obtain a bachelor's degree. The college has taken many measures to help students, such as national scholarship, work study program, subsidy for difficulties, national student loan and so on.

In recent years, the college has successively won the honorary titles of Fujian Vocational Education advanced unit, Fujian civilized school, Fujian party construction and ideological and political work advanced university, Fujian advanced collective of college and secondary school graduates employment, Fujian green school, safe campus, National May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee, etc. In July 2008, Fujian Provincial Department of education, Department of Finance and national development and Reform Commission decided that Minxi Vocational and technical college is a model higher vocational college in Fujian Province, and its comprehensive strength ranks in the forefront of similar colleges in the province.
