Hetao University is a multi-disciplinary university based in the West and facing the whole region to cultivate high-quality applied talents.

The college has 12 teaching departments and 10064 full-time undergraduate and junior college students, including 4054 undergraduate students. There are 509 full-time teachers, 49 professors, 157 associate professors, 223 teachers with master's degree or above, 10 teaching masters at the autonomous region level, 6 teaching rookies and 8 excellent teaching teams. At present, there are 24 undergraduate majors, 23 junior majors, 13 brand majors and 21 excellent courses in the autonomous region.

The college adheres to the road of connotation development and deepens the reform of education and teaching. According to the needs of industry development, teachers are selected to study and visit key universities at home and abroad every year to integrate the frontier knowledge of subject development into teaching in time, further enrich and optimize the teaching content, and the teaching effect is remarkable. In 2017, 73 undergraduate graduates were admitted to master's degree, of which 8 were admitted by 211 universities, with an admission rate of 8.11%.

The college actively carries out social science research to serve local economic and social development. In cooperation with local enterprises, we have established four doctoral research workstations, namely "tick mordant zoonosis research", "inorganic efficient adsorption application and demonstration research", "microbial fertilizer research and application", "mutton sheep breeding capacity building", and established an innovation team of "water saving irrigation technology innovation and appropriate technology diffusion research in Hetao irrigation area". One scientific and technological innovation and cultivation platform of the autonomous region, 12 key scientific research and service platforms of the Institute level have been built, and one major scientific and technological project of "breeding and industrialization of characteristic tomato varieties in Hetao area" and 19 patents of "modern mutton sheep farm production management system" have been obtained. At present, there are 243 projects under research, including 91 national, provincial and ministerial level projects, 11 municipal level projects and 141 college level projects.

The college actively explores the application-oriented talent training mode of "school enterprise cooperation, industry and education integration". Every year, teachers are selected to take part-time training in the front line of industry and enterprises, and the construction of "double teachers and double abilities" teaching team has achieved initial results; the scale and level of cooperation in running schools have been continuously improved, and three undergraduate majors of information and Computing Science (cloud computing direction), Fine Arts (advertising design direction), mathematics and Applied Mathematics (big data analysis direction) have been jointly built with Beijing Dongfang Zhiye Cultural Development Co., Ltd; Cooperate with Inner Mongolia Fuchuan feed science and Technology Co., Ltd. to build "Hetao college Fuchuan business college" to cultivate management and technical talents such as modern scale farm manager, manager and technical backbone; We have established cooperative relations with Xiamen University, Ningxia University, geshoff University of information technology and management, research institutes, enterprises and institutions at home and abroad in teaching, scientific research and personnel training. In January 2017, the college was approved by the people's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as a pilot college of application-oriented transformation and development in Inner Mongolia.

The basic teaching conditions of the college have been continuously improved, with a collection of 730600 paper books, 307800 e-books, 173 on campus experimental and training rooms, 186 off campus practice and training bases, and a total value of teaching equipment of more than 67 million yuan. The new campus of Hetao college with an investment of 1.028 billion yuan will be completed by the end of June 2017, which will greatly improve the basic school running conditions of the college.

Adhering to the educational philosophy of "people-oriented, moral education first, scientific management and practical education", the college has organized students to set up 59 scientific research groups, 20 competition groups and 6 innovation groups to carry out scientific research and technological innovation. At present, there are more than 50 student associations such as Nightingale volunteer service team, Calligraphy Club and roller skating club. 45 students have won various national competitions and 149 students have won various autonomous regional competitions.

In recent years, the college has vigorously promoted the innovation and Entrepreneurship of college students, and 10 projects have been selected into the regional innovation training program. The one-time employment rate of graduates remains above 93%, which provides intellectual support for the economic and social development of Inner Mongolia.
