Shanghai International Studies University

Shanghai Foreign Studies University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China and jointly built with Shanghai to enter the "211 Project". The school was founded in December 1949, shortly after the founding of new China, when it was named Shanghai Russian school. In 1956, the school changed its name to Shanghai Institute of foreign languages. In 1963, the University was identified as a national key university, directly under the leadership of the Ministry of education. In 1994, the University was upgraded to Shanghai Foreign Studies University and became one of the first schools jointly built by the State Education Commission and Shanghai. In 1996, the University was listed as the "211 Project" Construction University of the State Education Commission. For 60 years, the school has gained a good reputation in the society and gained certain influence in the world.

The school has two campuses, Hongkou and Songjiang. Hongkou campus is located in the center of Shanghai, covering an area of 254 mu with elegant environment. Songjiang Campus is located in Shanghai Songjiang New City, covering an area of more than 800 mu, with beautiful environment.

The school has a complete undergraduate, graduate, international students, junior college, adult education, network education and other teaching systems and research institutes at all levels. At present, there are more than 6000 full-time undergraduate students, more than 1300 graduate students (including master's, doctoral, University Teachers In-Service Master's degree graduate students, professional master's degree graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, etc.), more than 800 junior college students and more than 1200 long-term international students.

The school has a teaching staff with high academic level and rich education experience, and now has more than 300 professors and associate professors, as well as a large number of young and middle-aged lecturers who have made great achievements. Scientific research achievements are constantly emerging. Papers, monographs, teaching materials and reference books have won many awards in the national evaluation, and a variety of influential journals have been published at home and abroad.
