Private Hualian College

The private Hualian college was founded in 1990 by a group of retired professors from some colleges and universities in Guangzhou, such as South China Normal University, South China University of technology, Jinan University and Guangdong Normal University of technology. In 1994, approved by the Guangdong provincial government and put on record by the Ministry of education, it became the first batch of private colleges in China and the first private college in Guangdong to have the qualification of enrollment for academic education. In the same year, it participated in the national college entrance examination. The college enjoys the same treatment as public institutions of higher learning in terms of enrollment qualifications, student loans for poor students, national scholarships for outstanding students and academic qualifications. The diploma of graduates is supervised by the Education Department of Guangdong Province, with unified number and electronic registration.

At present, the college has nearly 10000 students. This year, it has set up 38 majors and a college of continuing education specializing in adult higher education. The college, together with South China Normal University, Jinan University, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and other universities, has jointly organized "communication" self-taught undergraduate degree education. At present, there are 4880 part-time undergraduate degree students of this kind. In 2009, with the approval of Guangdong Provincial Department of education, the college obtained the qualification to recruit foreign students. On December 17, 2014, with the approval of the Department of human resources and social security of Guangdong Province, our college established the private Hualian Vocational Training College of Guangdong Province, which has provided various kinds of training for nearly 10000 people inside and outside the college and obtained the qualified skill certificate. In the past 10 years, the average employment rate of graduates in our college has been above 96%, and more than 60000 practical talents have been trained for the society.
