Cangzhou vocational and technical college is a state-run full-time ordinary higher vocational college established with the approval of Hebei Provincial People's Government in 2000. The predecessor of the college, founded in 1958, has a history of more than 50 years. The campus covers an area of 1120 mu with a building area of 220000 m2. It has a superior environment for education, teaching and scientific research. It has established a high standard training center, training base and vocational skill appraisal station approved by the relevant departments at a higher level. Cangzhou Academy of agriculture and Forestry Sciences, founded in 1955, is an important regional agricultural scientific research unit in Heilonggang basin. It has undertaken a large number of scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial level, especially the national science and technology support program - salt tolerant plant variety screening and Germplasm Innovation Research in the low plain area around Bohai Sea. It has become one of the few units in China where municipal scientific research units preside over national scientific research projects. Since its establishment, the college has undertaken 62 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, 51 municipal level scientific research projects, published 948 papers and compiled 128 textbooks. Three national experimental stations have been built successively, namely soybean comprehensive experimental station, millet comprehensive experimental station and wheat comprehensive experimental station of the Ministry of agriculture, which has laid a foundation for the deepening of the integration of production, study and research.

Cangzhou industry and trade school has been listed in the list of the third batch of construction schools in the "national secondary vocational education reform and development demonstration school construction plan". In 2015, Cangzhou municipal Party committee and government decided to merge Cangzhou Technician College (formerly Cangzhou senior technician school) into Cangzhou vocational and Technical College as a whole. Cangzhou technician college is a full-time national key technical school with backbone demonstration function. It is a comprehensive high-level technical college integrating training senior and intermediate practical skilled talents with national vocational skill appraisal. It is a training demonstration base for the transfer of poor labor force in Hebei Province, a national sunshine project training base and a reemployment training base.
