Shandong Agricultural Engineering College is an ordinary undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. At present, it undertakes general undergraduate education, general junior college education, adult higher education, on-the-job training for county and department level leading cadres, continuing education for agricultural science and technology personnel, and training for new farmers. Its predecessor is Shandong May 7th cadre school, which was established in June 1971. In January 1976, it was renamed as Shandong Provincial May 7th cadre school. In April 1979, it was transformed into Shandong agriculture and forestry cadre school. In October 1983, it was transformed into Shandong Agricultural Management Cadre College. In April 2013, it was transformed into Shandong Agricultural Engineering College.

The school has Jinan campus and north campus, with a construction area of 2671 mu. At present, there are 513 full-time teachers, among which 157 are in technical posts above deputy senior level, accounting for 30.6% of the total number of full-time teachers, and 365 are in doctoral and master's degree, accounting for 71.15% of the total number of full-time teachers. The library collected 823000 paper books, purchased CNKI, Duxiu, Chaoxing and other large electronic literature databases, and the total value of teaching equipment reached 64.4117 million yuan. There are 83 laboratories and training centers, including food safety testing center, land surveying and mapping training center, logistics engineering training center, and mechanical and electrical engineering comprehensive laboratory. There are 500 mu ecological parks with perfect functions and beautiful environment, and more than 60 off campus training bases all over the province. At present, the university has 16 teaching departments, 18 general undergraduate majors and 37 Higher Vocational Majors (including 7 school enterprise cooperation majors and 2 Sino Australian cooperation majors). The majors cover six disciplines of engineering, agriculture, management, economics, literature and art, with more than 12000 full-time students. The school takes the initiative to undertake the task of training and transporting scientific and technological personnel, management personnel and technical personnel in agricultural modernization. We have established a cadre education pattern that mainly undertakes the corresponding training for Eastern and Western civil servants, county and department level agricultural leading cadres, and new-type farmers assigned by the state civil service bureau, Shandong provincial Party committee, and the provincial government, and takes into account the training entrusted by the local government.
