Founded in 1975, the college has experienced such periods as Henan coal mining school, Jiaozuo coal industry school, Henan Engineering and technology school, and Higher Vocational College of Henan University of technology. In March 2013, with the approval of Henan Provincial People's government, Henan Vocational College of industry and information technology was set up on the basis of separation from Henan University of technology.
