Guizhou construction vocational and technical college was founded in 1979, after Guizhou building materials industry school and Guizhou construction school, it was named Guizhou construction vocational and technical college in 2014. The college is a full-time public college directly under the Education Department of Guizhou Province, with full-time general higher education as the main part and secondary vocational education and non academic education as the auxiliary part. It is a higher vocational college in Guizhou Province, which mainly focuses on training construction technical and skilled talents. Covering an area of 610 mu, the college has two campuses, Qingzhen and guanshanhu, with more than 12000 students. It has six teaching units, namely, the College of architectural engineering, the College of architectural design, the College of information management, the College of architectural equipment, the Guizhou construction school and the College of continuing education. It also has architectural engineering technology, architectural decoration engineering technology, architectural equipment engineering technology, and architectural materials engineering technology There are 36 majors in the six major groups, such as economic management and information engineering technology.

The college is the "national training base for skilled talents in construction industry" and "national advanced unit of vocational education". The "Construction Vocational Education Group" led by the college is one of the first six vocational education groups in Guizhou Province. The college has 508 staff. Among them, there are 355 full-time teachers, 23.9% of them have doctor's or master's degree or above, 21.9% have senior or deputy professional titles, 43% have intermediate professional titles, and 62% have "double qualification" teachers. The college has established a comprehensive credit system for innovative education and teaching, established a talent training curriculum system with equal emphasis on professional and non professional abilities, highlighted the cultivation of innovation and entrepreneurship, practiced the school running concept of "learning Luban spirit and being a great craftsman", and guided the construction of campus cultural system with scholarly, singing and skill activities.

In recent years, the college has attracted nearly 20 enterprises from inside and outside the province to participate in the construction of the college's training base, forming a school running mode of introducing enterprises, talents and capital into the college. At the same time, the college has introduced 200 million yuan from the German promotion bank to build an advanced training base, becoming a model brand of Higher Vocational Colleges in architecture.
