Tongchuan Tongchuan is a city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province. It is located in the middle of Shaanxi Province, Guanzhong Basin and Northern Shaanxi plateau. It is adjacent to Yan'an, Weinan and Xianyang. It has a continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and obvious seasonal temperature changes. It covers an area of 3882 square kilometers and has three districts and one county. In 2017, the city's permanent resident population was 833400.
Tongchuan, with convenient transportation, is an important part of Guanzhong Economic Belt and a must pass to the mausoleum of Huangdi, the ancestor of human culture, and Yan'an, the holy land of revolution. Tongchuan new area is 68 kilometers away from Xi'an city and 72 kilometers away from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport. Xi'an Huangling Expressway passes through the area. Xiantong and Meiqi branch railways are connected with Longhai artery.
In 2017, Tongchuan achieved a GDP of 34.859 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry was 2.454 billion yuan, the secondary industry was 17.976 billion yuan, and the tertiary industry was 14.43 billion yuan.
On October 23, 2019, it was identified as "the third batch of demonstration cities for urban black and odorous water treatment".
Historical evolution
Xia Dynasty and Shang Dynasty were subordinate to ancient Yongzhou, which were the territory of the then national Hu, Huayuan and Chen.
The Zhou Dynasty belonged to Chen.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it was the territory of the state of Qin. In the 21th year of the reign of emperor li of Qin Dynasty (456 BC), Binyang County was set up (the county was governed by Xue town of Fuping County), and Tongchuan was under its jurisdiction.
The Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) was under the jurisdiction of neishidi.
In the second year of emperor Jing of the Western Han Dynasty (155 BC), Yixian County was set up. The county government is located in hedongbao, about half a kilometer to the east of today's Yaoxian City, which is under the jurisdiction of Zuo NEISHI. Except Jiaoping, a suburb of today, belongs to Qiyuan County of Shangjun County, most of the rest belong to Tuo county. In the first year of the Western Han Dynasty (104 BC), Zuo NEISHI was changed to Zuo Fengyi. Zou County is subordinate to Zuo Fengyi.
In Xinmang period, Tuo county was transferred to Liewei doctor. After that, the county system was abolished.
In the ninth year of Yongyuan (97) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Yixian County was set up under Zuo Fengyi.
During the Wei period of the Three Kingdoms, the overseas Chinese living in Niyang County in Ningxian County of Gansu Province were placed in Zou County, and Zou County was abolished. Niyang county is under the jurisdiction of Beidi County of Yongzhou, and its governance is in Yaoxian county.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, Tongchuan area was separated from Niyang county and divided into Fengyi county and Pinyang county.
In the pre Zhao period, Tongchuan was subordinate to Beidi County of Chenzhou. The county is governed by Yao county. In the pre Qin and post Qin Dynasties, Tongchuan was subordinate to Beidi county. The former Qin Dynasty set up a guard of bronze officials in Jiyang village in the suburb of the city.
In 446, Tongguan county was set up in the seventh year of Taiping Zhenjun in the Northern Wei Dynasty. The county government was located near Gaoping Village, Wangyi Township, the suburb of today's city, and it was subordinate to Beidi County of Yongzhou. The Tongguan garrison was abolished and its land was merged into Tumen garrison. In the first year of Jingming Dynasty (500 years), Binyang County was abolished, and part of Tongguan county was divided. Together with the northeast part of today's Fuping County, Tumen county was set up, which was subordinate to Beidi County of Yongzhou. In the first year of Yong'an (528), Tumen county was changed to Yijun county. In the reign of emperor Xiaowu, another Huangbao county was set up under Yijun County of Yongzhou.
In the Western Wei Dynasty, it followed the system of Tongguan county and Tumen county. Tongguan county belongs to Yijun county and Tumen county belongs to Tongchuan county.
In 575, Tongguan county was renamed Tongguan County, belonging to Yizhou. The organizational system of Tumen county is reserved.
In the Sui Dynasty, the system of Tongguan county and Tumen county was followed. In the second year of kaihuang (582), Yijun county was changed to Yizhou, and Tongguan county was subordinate to Yizhou; in the second year of Daye (606), it was changed to Yongzhou, and later to Jingzhao county. In the second year of Daye (606), Tumen county was abolished and merged into Huayuan County; later, the organizational system of Tumen county was restored and subordinate to Jingzhao county.
The Tang Dynasty followed the system of Tongguan county. Wude years (618-626), under the jurisdiction of Yizhou. Zhenguan seventeen years (643), changed to Yongzhou. That year, the organizational system of Tumen county was abolished. In the 21st year of Zhenguan (647), Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty decided to change the name of Renzhi palace in the southwest valley of Yijun county to Yuhua Palace (in Yuhua village, Jinsuo Township, the suburb of today), and moved Yijun county to Yongzhou. In 651, Yijun county and Yuhua palace were abolished. In 691, Tongguan county was transferred to Yizhou. In the first year of Dazu (701), Yizhou was abolished and Tongguan county was changed to Yongzhou. During the Tianfu period, it was the territory of the northern separatist regime.
The Five Dynasties were successively the territories of Houliang, later Tang, later Jin, later Han and later Zhou. In March, 909, Tongguan county was changed from Jingzhao prefecture to Tongzhou. Later Tang Tongguang three years (925) in July, changed to Yaozhou. Later Jin Dynasty, later Han Dynasty and later Zhou Dynasty belonged to Yaozhou.
In the Northern Song Dynasty, Tongguan county was subordinate to Yaozhou, Yongxing military road.
In Jin Dynasty, Tongguan county was subordinate to Yaozhou, jingzhaofu road.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Tongguan county was subordinate to Yaozhou, Fengyuan Road, xingzhongshu Province, Shaanxi Province.
In the Ming Dynasty, Tongguan county was subordinate to Yaozhou, Xi'an Prefecture, Shaanxi Province.
In the early Qing Dynasty, Tongguan county was subordinate to the Xi'an Prefecture of Shaanxi Province. In the third year of Yongzheng (1725), Yaozhou was changed into Zhili Prefecture, and Tongguan county was subordinate to it. Later, Tongguan county was subordinate to Xi'an Prefecture.
In the early period of the Republic of China, the same official belonged to Xi'an Prefecture. In 1913, it belonged to Guanzhong road of Shaanxi Province. In 1927, it belonged to Guanzhong District. In July 1936, it was the seventh administrative supervision district of Shaanxi Province. At the beginning of 1940, it was the third administrative supervision area. In April 1944, it was the office of the second Commissioner of administrative supervision. In July 1946, Tongguan was renamed Tongchuan. In October 1947, it was the office of the third Commissioner of administrative supervision. In May 1948, according to the instructions of the Ludong Working Committee of the Communist Party of China, Tongguan county government was established under the leadership of the government of the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region; in November, it was under the leadership of the office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision of Guanzhong District. The county government is located in azhuang Xiaozhuang village. Jurisdiction generally includes today's laterite, azhuang, Guangyang and other places.
On February 20, 1949, Tongchuan county was liberated for the first time, and Tongguan County military control committee was established. Tongguan county government moved to Tongchuan county. With the invasion of Kuomintang troops, county-level organs and their staff evacuated the county on March 15. On April 28, the whole county was liberated. On May 1, Tongguan county government moved to work in the county. On May 20, the office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision of Guanzhong District was changed into the office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision of Sanyuan District, under the leadership of Tongguan county. On July 7, the county was renamed Tongchuan.
On May 1, 1950, Sanyuan District Office of administrative inspector was abolished, and Tongchuan county was changed to Xianyang District Office of administrative inspector.
On January 20, 1953, the office of the administrative inspector of Xianyang district was abolished, and Tongchuan county was directly under the leadership of the provincial people's government.
On April 5, 1958, the State Council decided to abolish the system of Tongchuan county and establish Tongchuan City under the provincial jurisdiction. On June 13, Tongchuan Municipal People's Committee officially opened. On November 1, the CPC Central Committee approved the abolition of the organizational system of Fuping County and Yaoxian County, and the incorporation of Fuping County and Yaoxian County into Tongchuan City. In August 1961, the Shaanxi provincial Party committee of the Communist Party of China announced that Fuping County and Yaoxian county should be restored, and Tongchuan City should be under the jurisdiction of Weinan administrative inspector's office. The adjusted Tongchuan Municipal People's Committee will be officially opened on September 1.
On August 1, 1966, Tongchuan City was changed into a provincial city.
On January 1, 1980, the four townships of Guangyang, gaolouhe, azhuang, xiaojiabao and Yao county in Pucheng County were assigned to Tongchuan City. On May 1, 1980, they were divided into urban and suburban areas under the county-level system.
On October 25, 1983, Yijun county was assigned to Tongchuan City.
In July 1992, Tongchuan new district was established.
In March 2000, with the approval of the State Council, the urban area of Tongchuan City was renamed Wangyi District of Tongchuan City, and the suburb of Tongchuan City was renamed Yintai District of Tongchuan City.

No. 9 Chaoyang Road is the residence of the municipal Party committee and CPPCC, and No. 9 Zhengyang Road is the residence of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress and the municipal government.
Yaozhou District now has 8 towns, 3 sub district offices, 12 communities and 117 villages, covering an area of 1482.18 square kilometers. The district government is located in Wenying West Road. Wangyi district now has one town, six sub district offices, 20 communities and 26 villages, covering an area of 162.2 square kilometers. The district government is located in Hongqi Street. Yintai district now has jurisdiction over 5 towns, 4 sub district offices, 24 communities and 72 villages, covering an area of 626.8 square kilometers. The district government is located on the same road as Guanlu. Yijun county has jurisdiction over 7 townships, 1 sub district office, 2 communities and 117 villages, covering an area of 1476 square kilometers. The county government is located in Yiyang middle street.
