[plant morphology] deciduous shrub, up to 2m high. The whole plant is covered with silky villous or hirsute hairs. When young, it is brownish red, often Trident branched, with lenticels. Leaves alternate, usually clustered at the end of branches, papery, elliptic oblong or elliptic lanceolate, 8-16cm long, 2-3.5cm wide, cuneate at the base, decurrent, sharp or obtuse at the end, entire, densely covered with long hairs on the top, few glabrous on the back, pink green below, covered with long bristles, especially dense on the veins, with raised veins. Terminal capitulum drooping; pedicel stout, involucre pilose, pedicel absent or very short; flowers numerous, yellow, fragrant; perianth cylindric, lobes 4, petaloid, ovate, spreading; stamens 8, 2-whorled, inserted on upper part of tube, floral line very short; ovary superior, 1-locular, ovule 1. Drupe ovate, enclosed at base of perianth. The flowering period is March to April and the fruiting period is August.
Born on hillside, valley and forest. Produced in the south of the Yangtze River Basin and Henan, Shaanxi.
