[source] it is the young fruit of Terminalia chebula. The plant morphology is detailed in the article "Terminalia chebula".
[collection] harvested from September to October, steamed and dried.
[herbal medicine] the dried young fruit is oblong oval, slightly like olive, with fruit stalk mark at the bottom, 2-3cm long and 0.5-1.2cm wide, with dark brown appearance and obvious longitudinal wrinkles. The flesh is thick, yellowish green, the core is not obvious, slightly hollow, small black brown, no hollow. No gas, bitter taste, slightly sweet. It is better to be dry and solid with no hollow section.
In the past, this product was imported from Nepal and sold through Tibet.

[clinical application] treatment of bacillary dysentery
Add about 300 ml of Tibet Wenguo and fry for 3 hours. For adults, 15-20 ml, 10-15 ml for 10-15 years old and 5-10 ml for 5-10 years old, 3-4 times a day for 3-4 days. If the stool is not improved and the culture is positive, retention enema should also be used. It can also be made into an extract. Adults take it 3 times a day, 6-12g each time (0.6g of ganman extract is equal to 1g of the original crude drug), and children take it as appropriate. A total of 65 cases were observed. Except for the acute cases who had severe water loss, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting and were given infusion or belladonna mixture, no other anti dysentery drugs were given. In 41 cases of fever, the fever subsided in 3-36 hours, with an average of 16.54 hours; abdominal pain and sigmoid colic tenderness disappeared in 2-6 days; diarrhea disappeared in 2-7 days; stool characteristics and frequency mostly returned to normal in 3-5 days; microscopic examination of red and white blood cells and mucus disappeared, stool culture Shigella turned negative, with an average of 4.57 days and 3.65 days, respectively. There were no side effects and toxic symptoms during the treatment.
