Lotus
(rihuazi materia medica)
[synonyms] Han Dan (the book of songs), he Hua (the biography of Mao's Poetry), Shui Hua (Cui Bao's ancient and modern notes).
[source] it is the flower bud of Nymphaeaceae. For plant morphology, please refer to "lotus seed" section.
[collection] from June to July, the large bud or open flower was harvested and dried in the shade.
[medicinal material] the dried flower buds are cone-shaped, 2.5-4 cm long and 2 cm in diameter. The surface is grayish brown. The petals are multilayered and arranged in a spiral shape; the scattered petals are oval or oval, slightly shrunk or folded, with many veinlets on the surface and slightly thick at the base; the quality is smooth and soft. Remove the petals, the center is a young lotus, the top is round and flat, there are more than 10 small holes, the base is gradually narrow, surrounded by many stamens. The petiole is thin columnar, with wrinkle or parallel lines, purple black surface, spiny protuberance, and large pores on the cross section. Slightly fragrant, bitter and astringent, with unopened, neat petals, clean, gas fragrance is better.
It is produced in most parts of the country.
[chemical constituents] the flower contains quercetin, luteolin, isoquercetin, luteolin glucoside, kaempferol, kaempferol-3-galactosylglucoside, kaempferol-3-diglucoside and other flavonoids.
