[plant morphology] Polygala tenuifolia
-Annual herbs. Stem erect or nearly prostrate, 8-15 cm high, usually simple, white pubescent. Leaves alternate; elliptic or oblong obovate, 5-10 mm long, 3-5 mm wide, apex obtuse or obtuse, base rounded, entire, glabrous or subglabrous. Raceme axillary or axillary exophytic, very short; flowers small, blue purple, about 2.5 mm long; sepals 5, long ovate, apex acute, purplish red, margin ciliate, 2 petals in the middle, 2-2.5 mm long; petals 3, both petals adnate to filament sheath. Central petal apex with fimbriate appendage; stamen 8; pistil 1, ovary oblate, style apex curved. Capsule oblong obovate, flat, apex retuse, without eyelashes, sepals persistent. Seeds ovate. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from July to August.
