[source] it is the seed of chickpea.
[plant morphology] Chickpea
Annual herbs. Stem erect, branched, with white glandular hairs, 25-50 cm high. Stipules with several long teeth; pinnate compound leaves, 9-15 leaflets, opposite or alternate, broadly ovate or rectangular, sometimes obovate, 10-15mm long, apex obtuse, margin densely serrate, veins prominent. Flowers solitary, with long pedicels; corolla white, or colored, 8-10 mm long; calyx 6-8 mm long, calyx teeth linear, 2-3 times as long as the tube; corolla butterfly shaped, protruding outside the calyx, flag petal broad, clawed, wing petals separated; stamens 10, 9 and 1 in two bundles; ovary sessile, style curved, glabrous. Pods rectangular, inflated, 18-25 mm long, 12 mm wide, with very fine pubescence. Seeds 1-2, wrinkled, pointed at one end, resembling antelope head, white, red or black.
It is cultivated in Gansu, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Shanxi and Hebei. The seeds are edible.
[chemical composition] the seed contains about 20% protein (18.4-29.8%), 4.6-6.10% fat oil, 44.89-52.80% starch, 2.36-4.67% mineral and 2.4-10.06% crude fiber. The content of choline and phospholipid is 116-238 mg% and 102-136 mg%, respectively. In addition to starch and crude fiber, the carbohydrates also contain 0.8-1.2% arabinoglycan, in which the ratio of L-arabinose to D-glucose is 3:7, the water-soluble sugar is 6.7%, and there are glucose, sucrose and chickpea sugar. The bean contains trypsin inhibitor, which is heat-resistant and needs to be boiled for a long time to destroy. The newly harvested seeds contained vitamin C 1031 mg / 100g, almost twice as much as that of newly harvested wheat, but the content of vitamin C was only 2.5-6.0 mg / 100g after aging. In addition, the seeds contained 308 mg of phosphorus, 231 mg of calcium, 6.9 mg of iron, 354 mg of phytate phosphorus, vitamin E, thiamine and pantothenic acid.
The germ of germinated seeds contains isoflavones, such as chickpeanin a, chickpeanin B and chickpeanin C. Many flavonoids were isolated from the seedlings, including isoliquiritigenin, 4 "- glucoside, 3,4", 7-trihydroxyflavone and chickpea sprout 7-glucoside.
The stems and fresh leaves contain malic acid, citric acid, malonic acid, sucrose, and a small amount of fumaric acid, succinic acid, oxalic acid, glucose, fructose, etc. The glandular hairs of leaves and stems could secrete malic acid, oxalic acid and acetic acid in aqueous solution, of which malic acid (94%) and oxalic acid (6%) were the main ones, and most of them were secreted at flowering stage and pod growth stage.
The root contains a small amount of benzofuran coumarin, alfalfa phenol and o-methyl comestol.
[pharmacological action] a compound was isolated from Ilex, which can promote the growth of vitamin C deficient guinea pigs, and its effect is similar to that of hesperidin. The serum lipids, including free cholesterol, cholesteryl ester, phospholipid and triglyceride, were significantly decreased in rats fed with the lipid isolated from Ilex. The lipid content in liver tissue was also significantly decreased, while the excretion of cholesteryl end products in feces was increased. The mechanism of action may be to increase the excretion of cholesterol end products.
[nature and taste] notes on materia medica: "it tastes sweet and non-toxic. "
