[chemical constituents] the root contains alkaloids, mainly Magnolia alkaloid 0.17%, and zanthoxyline o.0075%, Yinyu alkaloid o.0015%, dictamnine 0.001%, Yajiao alkaloid, etc.

Functions and indications: dispelling wind, dispersing cold, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain. Treat headache, cold, cough, vomiting and diarrhea, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic injury, toothache.

The fresh roots (or leaves and fruits) of Zanthoxylum bungeanum bungeanum were distilled into injection, and every 2 ml was equivalent to 2 g of crude drug. Each time intramuscular injection 2 ~ 4 ml. 208 cases of biliary tract diseases, gastric and duodenal ulcer, intestinal spasm and postoperative pain were treated. Generally, the analgesic effect was produced 10-20 minutes after medication. If Zusanli acupoint injection was used, the effect was faster. The analgesic effect can be maintained for 5-10 hours and repeated every 12 hours if necessary. No adverse reactions and addiction were found during the application, and no significant changes were found in body temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, etc.
