Liana, 2 m long, stem striped. Leaves opposite, usually five pinnate; petioles more curly; leaflets ovate or broadly ovate, entire, apex with a short tip, reticulate veins distinct, leathery when old. Panicle, axillary and terminal; bracts small, lanceolate; sepals 4, spreading, oblong; apetalous; stamens numerous, filaments flat; pistils several, free; ovary and style densely filiform. Achenes oblate ovate, orange yellow, narrowly pointed at both ends, slightly protruding at the edge, densely covered with fine white hairs on the surface, and densely covered with filamentous long white hairs on the terminal persistent style. The flowering period is from May to April. The fruit ripens in October.

It grows in the mountains and forests or beside the farmland. It is distributed in Northeast China, Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hubei, Anhui and other places.
