Perennial herbs. Underground stem transverse, white, node with many fibrous roots. Stem erect, with inflorescence 30-80 cm high. Leaves alternate, oblong to broadly oblanceolate, 20-30 cm long, 3-6 cm wide, apex acute, base gradually into a short sheath embracing stem, entire, herbaceous, rough above, dark green, light green below, scattered fine hairs. Panicle terminal, with white fine hair, pedicel whorled, usually 3-6 rings; bracts narrowly ovate, membranous; flowers white; perianth 6, outer 3 pieces thick, inner 3 pieces obovate, thin; stamen 6, filament long, glabrous; pistil ovary 3 rooms, each room has a few ovules. The fruit is globular, slightly fleshy, not dehiscent, blue, bright and crisp at maturity. It blooms in summer.
Born in the valley forest edge of the wetland. It is distributed in Jiangxi, Hunan, Sichuan and other places.
