[plant morphology] 1. Zimucao, also known as liulicao and jieguxiantaocao.
Perennial herbs, 15-25 cm high. The base of stem is prostrate, elongated, coarsely hairy, and new branches emerge from the axils of old branches and leaves, erect. Leaves alternate; oblong, narrowly oblong or obovate lanceolate, 1.5-6 cm long, 5-20 mm wide, apex obtuse, base narrowly cuneate, sessile or shortly stipitate, surface hirsute. Flowers solitary in upper leaf axils, purplish blue, rarely white; calyx 5-lobed, lobes linear lanceolate, apex acute; corolla tube throat with 5 white lines projecting, 5-lobed, transverse diameter 15-18 mm; stamens 5; ovary deeply 4-lobed, style 1. Nutlets white, 2.5-3 mm long, smooth. The flowering period is from April to May.
Born in Xiangyang mountain or under forest. It is distributed in Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hubei and other places.
② Big Arnebia, also known as: maijiagong, Tian Arnebia.
Annual or biennial herbs, 20-40 cm high, covered with white bristles. Stem erect, base inclined, often branched. Leaves alternate, lanceolate or obovate elliptic, 1-4 cm long, 1-7 mm wide, entire, stipitate or sessile. The flowers are white, solitary in the axils of the upper part of the stem; the calyx lobes are linear, slightly shorter than the corolla; the Corolla is funnel-shaped, about 6-7 mm long, with a protuberant throat. Nutlets gray, slightly glossy, with slight verrucous shrinkage and minute verrucae, 2-3 mm long. It blooms in summer and ripens in September.
It grows on rocky hillside, wild grassland or wet field. Distributed in Northeast, Shaanxi, Hebei, Jiangsu and other regions.

[chemical constituents] the whole plant of Arnebia euchroma contains rutin 0.25-0.44% or 0.59%, TRIACONTANE, eicosanol, palmitic acid, myristic acid, lauric acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid and other fatty acids, as well as sitosterol, fumaric acid, caffeic acid, glucose and rhamnose.
