[plant morphology] Robinia pseudoacacia, also known as Robinia pseudoacacia, Hu Teng.
Deciduous trees or shrubs, up to about 25 meters high. The bark is brown with deep grooves; the branches are spiny. Leaves alternate; odd pinnate compound leaves; petiole 1-3 cm long, base expanded; stipules changed to needling; leaflets 7-19, elliptic to long ovate, or oblong lanceolate, 2.5-4.5 cm long, apex rounded or obtuse, sometimes concave, with small spiny tips, base rounded or broadly cuneate, entire, smooth or pubescent when young, leaf thin, bright green. Inflorescence 2-10 cm long, staminate; inflorescence 2-20 cm long, staminate; inflorescence densely lanceolate, staminate; inflorescence 2-20 cm long, staminate Villous. The nectar contains 0.37% sugar and amino acids such as aspartic acid, glutamic acid, histidine, arginine, lysine, ornithine, leucine, phenylalanine, valine, tyrosine, proline and threonine. The content is 0.002-4.786 mg% of the dry weight of nectar.
The leaves contain rhamnose glucoside of Robinia pseudoacacia, rhamnose xylose glucoside of Robinia pseudoacacia, rhamnose xylose glucoside of apigenin, rhamnose xylose glucoside of apigenin, rhamnose xylose glucoside of apigenin, n-eicosanol and concanavalic acid. Fresh leaves contain 119.3 mg% vitamin C.
Concanavalic acid was found in immature seeds and their outer bark. The seed contains plant lectin. The fatty acid composition of seed oil is: linoleic acid 53.18%, oleic acid 24.26%, linolenic acid 12.04%, palmitic acid 4.72%, arachidic acid 3.31%, stearic acid 2.35%, trace amount of eicosanoic acid and eicosanoic acid.
The bark is poisonous and contains toxic proteins and glycosides. The heartwood contains Robinia pseudoacacia B, dihydrorobinia pseudoacacia B, β - Dihydroxybenzoic acid, β - Dihydroxybenzoic acid methyl ester, 4,2 ", 4" - trihydroxychalcone, liquiritigenin, purpurin, purpurin, 3,4,5,2 ", 4" - pentahydroxychalcone.
