Plant morphology

Rattan shrub with young branches and yellow pubescence. Leaves opposite, oblong or oblong lanceolate, 4.5-15 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, apex acuminate, base round or slightly heart-shaped, entire, under the old leaves, especially veins and margin of leaves with pubescence; petiole 5-15 mm long, lower part with joints. After the leaves fall, the part below the joint becomes spinous; the spike is at the top of the branch, drooping and slightly fragrant; there is a bract under each flower, lanceolate or linear, abscission; the calyx tube is tubular, protruding from the ovary, about 6 cm long, with 5 teeth at the apex, short triangle, pilose and glandular hairs; the petals are 5, oblong or obovate, about 1 cm long, round at the apex, and wide wedge at the base Pistil 1, ovary inferior, cylindric fusiform, with 5 longitudinal branches, pilose and glandular hairs, style slender, exposed, lower part connate with calyx tube, stigma short. In vitro test, Shi Junzi had a strong efficacy in expelling Ascaris lumbricoides, earthworm and leech, and it was considered that the drug was too old because it was reported that Shi Junzi had no efficacy in expelling Ascaris lumbricoides. It is proved that the extract of semen euphratica can paralyze the head of Ascaris lumbricoides in vitro. It is proved that the active ingredient is water-soluble, also soluble in methanol, insoluble in petroleum ether, and insoluble in chloroform and pure ethanol. There is still a debate about what the effective components are. In the early stage, it was proved that the effect of shijunzi on earthworm could be explained by the potassium salt contained in it, but the potassium salt had no effect on Ascaris lumbricoides. Therefore, it was not reliable to use earthworm as an anthelmintic test. It was believed that K2SO4 was an effective component of insect repellent. However, it was suspected that K2SO4 was only effective on earthworms and Na2SO4 had no effect on earthworms. Later, potassium junjunjunate had inhibitory effect on Ascaris lumbricoides in glass tube, but the effect was weak. In clinical trials, it was also proved that the anti Ascaris effect of K2SO4 was similar to that of fresh K2SO4, but inferior to that of shandaonian. It has also been reported that the pyridine in it is related to anthelmintic effect. In addition, it was reported that the mixture of castor oil and castor oil had high excretion rate to animals and people, and had no significant side effects (such as hiccup and vomiting).

In recent years, many observations have been made on the use of shijunzi in the treatment of Ascaris lumbricoides, but the results are not consistent. According to the reports of dozens to hundreds of cases, the excretion rate varies from about 30% to 86% after taking the medicine. The negative conversion rate of eggs in stool reexamination is generally about 30% to 40%, but it is also as low as 15.4%. Some people think that most patients can't get rid of Ascaris lumbricoides once after taking the medicine, so it's necessary to use the medicine repeatedly; but some people also point out that repeated use of the medicine doesn't have much benefit. Usage: chew and swallow the Junzi Ren (raw or fried until crisp), or take it with boiled water, or make it into decoction. Take it on an empty stomach or about 2 hours after eating, or take it 2-3 times a day, or take it for 2-3 days. In some cases, cathartic was added.
