Parasitic shrubs. Branches cylindrical, 2-forked, branched or opposite, grayish brown when dry, with fine longitudinal lines, nodes inflated. Leaves opposite, obovate or oblong, 3-8.5 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, apex rounded, base gradually narrowed, veins 3 or 5; petiole short or absent. Cyme axillary, usually 1-3 clusters, each inflorescence has 1-3 flowers; bracts short triangle, each pair to form a boat shaped cup; female corolla tube is short cylindrical or elliptic, lobes 4, rarely 3, short triangle; male flower is about half of female flower, usually flat, corolla lobes with female flower; stamens without filaments, anthers inserted on corolla lobes. Berry subglobose or ovate, about 5 mm long, yellow when ripe, tender fruit and nearly mature fruit with small nodules, finally smooth. The flowering period is from January to March. The fruit period is autumn and winter.
